How far in advance to book for DC?

A co-worker of mine is planning a Spring Break trip to Orlando in early April for his family of 5. They were very interested in DC but when he called for tickets, they said that they were all booked for the next 3 months.
Is this the usual case with DC?

I tried to search the boards but couldn't come up with any posts that would answer this question.

While it's usually a good idea to book as far in advance as you can, you should have little trouble booking DC 1 ro 2 days ahead of time. You can try Discovery Cove's web site (I can't post URLs yet, sorry) to check availability yourself.

I just checked their website and he's right about them being booked during April. I had no idea that it was this busy.

When we did DC my TA told us we needed to try and book at least 3-6 months in advance since it is limited admission and a very popular attraction espically during the busy time of the year. As it was we booked 3 months out for the first week in December and got our tickets for the second date we requested but the first was filled when we tried to get our desired date.

If you don't get your first choice, book your second and keep checking. I wanted Saturday, May 13th but when we went to book it wasn't available so I booked the Friday. The next day I checked and it was available. I called and they switched it. They claimed it was the last one but now I see it's available again online!! You get one free switch and after that changes are $50.

I noticed April was booked up and heard about a convention being in the area around the time I was planning on going so figured I'd better book just in case. Better safe than sorry, except that you do have to fork out the money at the time of booking so that's the downside!! Luckily for me it was a birthday gift so someone else is forking out!
