How far in advance do they announce refurbs?

Convinced DH to return to Disney this winter (holiday decorations!!). I'm just curious if the list of refurbs that is out now won't change barring any crazy issues?

They can change at any time. But usually a refurb list is announced for 6+ months in advance. Of course a ride can go down and have a refurb without notice if it's something major.

Would anyone know, if this is the same when they do refurbs that effect the Resorts like pool closures? We usually go down at the end February and just want to make we don't get a resort with seasonal maintenance

They are changed all the time. There is not set time for a refurbishment or closure. They can be announced months in advance or even day of. Major month+ long refurbishments are typically announced 3 or more months in advance.

I also want to add I try to keep track of all this in my major project completion dates thread in my signature on the rumors board.

Refurbs can be random and unannounced until it is too late to change plans. There is no guarantee that a pool won't be closed for seasonal maintenance. But there is usually another pool that you can use if one is closed.

It is announced when Disney knows it is going to be done. That could be a year out... that could be a day out. No way to guarantee that a specific pool or attraction will be up on ones trip. Just got to stay flexible.
