How far in advance do pins get sent?

I am hoping to be able to stay at the Polynesian but can only do that if a promo gets released or we receive a pin. Since I'm a huge planner and want to know where I'm staying well in advance, I'm wondering when I should start expecting to see pins sent out and/or promos released for Feb. 2012? Any idea?

I think that any offers or pins for next year will be sent after the next year's pricing is available. ( someone correct me if this is wrong)

When we were planning for our Sept 2010 trip, we got our pin in November of 2009 emailed to us. This was a pin for most all of 2010. We booked our vacation that night. But the prices for 2010 resorts/ dining plan / etc I think were available sometime in August of 2009. (mid to late August if I remember correctly).

You may not see offers for next year until the latter part of this year. I hope this helps a little !!

believe me, I know the frustration !!!! I started planning in January 2009 and had to wait till NOVEMBER to book !! talk about tearing your hair out waiting !! but it'll go by very fast......and in the mean time, you can over obsess about dining plans !! (that's what I did !!)

(I've already started planning our 2013 trip....talk about a wait !!)

Over obsessing about ADRs has already started too. I had to laugh when I read your post because I was just posting a question about restaurants on another forum. I think we've got issues.

I've already booked the Poly for our dates. I'm planning on changing to a moderate if I don't get any kind of deal to bring our total cost down. But, my first moderate choice would be POFQ with 2 little ones. I wonder if it will be too late to change to that resort by the end of this year? I bet it will be booked solid already since it's the smallest mod. How much of a nightmare is transportation from POFQ (or Caribbean Beach, my 2nd choice) with 2 little ones (and probably a sit and stand stroller)? Anyone?

Already been there. But, I was hoping not to have to spend time reading through it all every day for 9 months! My husband already thinks I have a problem. If I could get some idea as to when I should start REALLY looking hard for deals, maybe I could cut down on my obsessing.....who am I kidding? It's not in my nature not to obsess. And, Disney is just so fun to plan!

First of all, I hear ya on the whole planning thing!! I'm not going 'till Sept. 2012 and I've just been comparing prices for the same weeks for this year just to get an idea of what I'm looking at (then I add $150 to the price for cost increase.. lol)

For your question about POFQ transporation... when I went in 8/2008, I stayed at POFQ and as I recall, the busses were just fine! I only remember a long line coming from MK one night and even then, it wasn't too bad.

I had rented a car and even though I used it, there were days I didn't want to bother with parking. I think maybe 4 days out of 8 that I used it while at the parks?

I got my first pin ever, in April. Trip had to be booked by June 30th. We dont travel in the summer so it was no good to us. Was an AMAZING offer but not worth the heat/crowds of the summer.

A pin is a special code you either get in the mail or emailed to you, and its only specifically for you, no one else can you your code except for you. It gives some kind of special deal, the best being 40% off a room. Some aren't that great though. I just got one for this winter for free parkhopper upgrade on tickets.

Prices will be released in August, deals if there are any, probably winter sometime.

UGHHH the wait is killing me LOL. I just booked a room only for the Poly and OMG the price was . We are DVC members and are out of points but DH and I want to take our yearly March anniversary trip. Hoping they have a good code or we will be downgrading to CBR. Atleast we know the most it could cost us.

That's funny...you say you'll be "downgrading" to CBR...that's our favorite! Makes me wonder what the Poly has over CBR, besides the price? LOL

The last one i got was for some extended Free Dining dates through early December and I got that one back in April. Now according to my TA at AAA when the price increase in August there is always a great offer or 2 for the following year usually for early spring and some select early summer dates but the booking window is like w/in 2 weeks of the offer/new rates being released. So if you don't get a pin code start lurking around the Dis and/or contact your TA or just give a call to the CRO around the 2nd or 3rd week of August and there is bound to be some type of offer available then.
