How far in advance can you rent points?

I've been looking into renting points and am getting some mixed messages. It seems like people are able to make reservations 7 to 11 months in advance but one Diser told me that they can't make a reservation until 60 days before my departure date.

I'd really appreciate any clarification you could give me!

You can rent points at 11 months from someone that owns at the resort you are interested in staying at. The 7 month window is if the owner does not own at the resort you wish to stay at.

My guess - your contact has holding points - he can only use those 60 days or less out. If you find someone else they should be able to use the seven - eleven month window - but you may not get such a good deal on your points - holding points usually go for pretty cheap due to the restrictions.

I'm sure Crisi is right, and if you wait until 60 days you may have no chance of getting a reservation.

We have been able to get reservations within 60 days, but we are able to travel on the spur of the moment. We're also using our own points, so all the risk is ours alone. In a renting situation -- either as an owner or renter -- I'd sure avoid a short leadtime rental.

The info above from ProudMommyof 2 is exactly right, and that's the kind of situation you should look for. In particular, if you are going to be renting during a popular time for DVC, you will need the 11-month booking window.

I hope this is working out for you! I have rented points for our upcoming trip in March and could not be happier!! Talk to several people and go with the one that make you feel the most comfortable about your transaction.

I have rented our points and rented points from others... I agree, a very rewarding experience and worth every penny!
