How far in advance can you book?

I just have a few questions about booking a vacation.

So I read on another post that you can book a room before you can book a vacation package. How far in advance can you book it?

Is there a difference in price if you don't wait to book the entire vacation package? I thought that if you booked room only you could still go back and add the MYW tickets plus dining.

And one more question, you can get discounts even after you have booked your trip, correct?

I don't know the exact answer but I was thinking I was able to book my Sept. 2006 trip (room only first) in late June of 2005.

Room only can be booked 500 days in advance of your checkout day.

You can book a room 500 days in advance. But you will not be able to book a package at that point, and you will not know what the real rate for your room will be either. You will pay a deposit based on the current room rate. Then when packages are available, you can add the package to the reservation. They may actually cancel the existing reservation and start a whole new one.
Also if you have a room only reservation and some discount comes out, you should be able to get the discount, as long as you make the change before all available rooms for the discount are gone.
I usually only get room only reservations, make them as soon as I can and then call back later to add the AAA discount on to the reservation when it becomes available.

brentalex, I have another question. if a room only discount comes out and I want to use it, does that mean I can't add a package to it?
