So, I just figured out that if we drive instead of fly, we could afford to do the Kennedy Space Center and a day at EPCOT.

How far from the parks is the port? If it unreasonable to think that if we disembarked at out first opportunity we could do EPCOT on that day? It would be a Thurday in Early December, so we're looking at shorter park hours. What is that travel time from disembarking to getting to EPCOT going to be?

About an hour. It is hard to know how much time to allow for clearing customs. Usually it is pretty quick but I'd allow an hour. If you get through more quickly you're on the road quicker!:jester:

Also, what time can you leave the ship in the morning?

You can't leave the ship until the ship is cleared by customs. For us it was approx. 8:10. They made an announcement. Then it was a slow parade of people off the boat. Was quick to find luggage though, as it's all arranged in categories depending on your stateroom location.

1) the drive time is going to be around one hour

2) the earliest is around 7:30am, but given that this depends on U.S. customs it can and has been delayed.

on our 3-peat, the times were 9/1 7:25, 9/5 8:05, and 9/8 7:35

Very cool, sounds like we won't have a problem adding a day at the park then.

LoL... it's just putting up with the kids on that 20 hour drive from Chicago that we'll have to worry about!!! Thank goodness hubby has a DVD player in his laptop. :Pinkbounc

Just off the 9/7 Magic - No problem - we got off late (almost 9) , thru customs (porter threw our paper in a full box as we walked by) and got to our car, loaded up, drove to the Contemporary, checked in, dropped our luggage & were on our way to Epcot - even got to ride Test Track with no wait 3 times! Then decided that since the MK was open 'till 9, we'd head over - BIG MISTAKE!!! Even with the rain coming down, that's where the crowds were.

If you have the chance, you should certainly try to visit Kennedy Space Center. It’s a great opportunity to experience a contrast of the wonderful—yet imaginary—offerings at WDW and learn about the incredible reality of the world’s only operational Space Port as well as one of the most incredible parts of and 20th Century Cold War history as well as the history of the human race.

in early december you'll have the parks all to yourself...
when we've been at WDW in december we've been able to fly through all the attractions....and even better, stay on some of the rides if we wanted to...
i remember one rainy cold december day.....we rode splash mountain 6 times in a row without getting off...there we sat in our winter jackets covered with ponchos....we were the only riders the entire time...
the CMs were laughing ....placing bets as to when we'd get pneumonia...
but they ddin't make us get off and walk around....how do you spell happiness......
