How long of a ride is it to US from downtown Disney?

To answer the question, I'd say about 20 minutes.

You leave the USF area, head out to I-4 West to Tampa. Yes, it says Tampa, but you're really heading South West. Drive about 10 miles, and you'll see a bunch of exits for Disney. Take one of them and follow the signs.

Tip from a local--easiest way on weekends when the I-4 traffic is bad is to leave Universal via a left onto Turkey Lake Road (maybe 1/2 a mile beyond the "entrance" to I-4 West), just go straight down until you hit 535, and turn left again, entrance to WDW is a block up. You may hit a few lights, but you should avoid the major traffic snarls.
