How far from 1600 loop to Settlement Depot?

I'm curious with all the talk about golf cart rentals just how big the Fort is and how far apart things are.

Say we get our requested loop - 1600 - how far is it to walk to Settlement Depot? 1 mile? More? Less?

And how far to walk from 1600 to the park buses by the Outpost Depot?

We aren't bringing bikes and won't be renting a cart - but the more I hear the chatter, I'm starting to wonder how many miles we're going to be logging. :scared1:

Note - I work out 5-6 times a week, and my normal easy run is 3.5 miles. I'm not scared of walking - just curious what we're in for.

Traci,

I like to use the tool http://www.gmap-pedometer.com

Following the road only, from the furthest point in 1600 to the Outpost Depot (check-in area) bus stop is 0.84 miles.

From the furthest point in 1600 headed toward the Settlement Depot (Pioneer Hall end) bus stop or the boat/marina to the MK, you can take the sidewalk past the 1500 Comfort station and it is 0.74 miles.

Busses run both directions if you are so inclined. It's all level too.

It's really not that bad. It might seem further if you are a "Type A" personality but I have no problem walking from one end of the Fort to the other (although I prefer my bike).

I'm sorry. I feel like I'm stalking your posts but they really are just so pertinent to my trip, lol. :)

I've been having some similar questions. We also are not bringing bikes or renting a cart. I do Jazzercise 7 days a week and usually run 3x's a week so I'm not afraid of a little exercise either but I do have concerns about the kids so we are at least bringing their scooters, lol. It wont help them that much but for tooling around the campground I was hoping it helps a little. ;)

The internal buses are really very good; they are not the hassle many people make them out to be.

Also good to know! We are not the type to expect the transportation system to be truly "magical" - we know there will be times we have to wait, can't get on a bus because it's full, etc.

I was just getting nervous with so many people talking about carts and such that the Fort really wasn't walkable.

I read something last night that it's about a half mile wide and about 1.5 miles long - totally walkable distances for us if we don't feel like waiting for a bus. :)

the walk for you might be doable but if you have kids with you, it can be a different story. esp at night when they are tired and maybe asleep when you arrive back and need to walk back to site. the internal buses are very doable but a cart can make it faster and easier, have done both ways. that doable walk can be a killer if you have to carry a sleeping child after a day of walking in the parks. I noticed the ages of what I take as your kids
