How far and wide would you want DVC to expand?

I think it would make sense to offer at least SOME DVC villas at all of the other theme parks outside the US. When we went to Paris it was sooo much more economical to just book a room / tix package there than to use our DVC points. The point charts there were absurd because these other parks are not really operated by Disney. I think there would be a fairly good DVC market in the UK for DVC'ers who would visit DLP. Having a DVC option in Asia is likely the only way we'll ever make it to Hong Kong or Tokyo or Shanghai. I think that Aulani is a very popular destination - the problem is that most people outside of those living on the west coast can't afford to GO there very often so it's a little silly to BUY there. We would LOVE to visit Hawaii every 3 years or so but the flights from the east coast are cost prohibitive. :scratchin Hummm...maybe DVC should start an airline with charter flights from CA?! :rotfl: (jk)

Come this summer we will have visited all of the current DVC resorts. We love to mix it up and resort hop and to go to other places. We're inclined to want to alternate vacationing 2 or 3 times a year at WDW one year (in order to take full advantage of AP's) with then taking a more exotic vacation the next year (i.e. like taking a DCL cruise or making the most out of going to Hawaii). The caribbean is a lot more affordable for those on the east coast so personally I would like to one day see a caribbean DVC. Not on Castaway Cay which has nothing but Cookies BBQ and some jet skis to rent but maybe in the BVI or Aruba or something...I think it needs to be a good year round destination with regards to weather - something which DC or Williamsburg would not be. Mid-Atlantic resorts would simply not offer the same advantages that a warmer climate resort would offer - they are too seasonal. But we would visit DVC resorts outside of FL if they were offered and if they had the right climate.

JM2C on the subject...

I don't see the point of expansion to other popular destinations! The best bang for my points is to use them at the Disney resorts! For travel anywhere else I can negotiate hotels, villas, cabins, etc. at much better rates than if I were to use DVC points!

I've stayed at Vero once! I do possibly plan a trip to Hawaii fro my son's graduation but we will want to see more than just one spot so I sincerely doubt I will book a DVC stay, I can most probably get a better deal elsewhere! The only time I justified a hotel stay on points, The Hotel Del Coronado, but that was when I purchased my loaded contract with points I would lose in a short period of time! I consider cruises to be in the same category, best paid for rather than using points!

I do however visit WDW 3-5 times a year, 3 - 4 days at a time!

I would love to see something in the rocky mountains. Areas like Vail, Aspen, etc., have year-around attraction. Who knows, maybe they can carve some mouse ears into the mountain that are a mile high. ;-) Seriously, though, I think a mountani getaway would be perfect.

Actually CO is very seasonal based on the info I have. About 15 weeks (Xmas to Easter) are very high demand and about another 12 weeks (summer plus shoulder times) are moderately high demand. The rest are low to very low. About 8 to nine weeks are about as low as you can get. It's roughly comparable to HH but likely just a little bit more seasonal a a little lower demand overall. I think the location DVC had under contract is where the Hyatt Mountain Lodge is now in Beaver Creek, at least based on the info available at the time. Of course everywhere is seasonal to a degree, even Orlando and WDW but some are more so than others. South FL and the Caribbean are likely to be the least Seasonal locations. In a sense it doesn't matter that much (other than the 7 month window issue) if a resort is seasonal, only if they can sell it. That's one of the advantages of a points system, you can sell every point like it's a prime ski week.

I would really love the Gulf Coast.

A few years ago HGTV gave away a dream home in Mexico Beach Florida. I would go to the website and gaze at the pictures and look at the beach with NOTHING on it. It seemed like paradise. I think a resort on one of the FEW areas on the gulf coast that isn't built up...with good food options would be fantastic...and a great place to stop off for a day or two on the way to see the Mouse!

Other places...

NYC, DC, Asheville NC, Montana, Europe.

Just for the positive investment in the state...Orange Beach / Gulf Shores Alabama.
