How far ahead to reserve Poly?

Hi all. I'm in the beginning stages of planning a trip to WDW for myself and my BF for next September (late) 2006. We want to stay at the Poly for 7 nights. My question is - when is a good time to call to book the room? I haven't decided yet whether I want to book as a package or separately yet but I was thinking that I could book the room now and then choose a package at a later date and change to that when the time comes. Can I do this? I know that the Poly books up quickly most of the time and I don't want to miss out by waiting too long.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

Book your room and make dining reservations very early! A year in advance is not too early to book your room, dining reservations 90 days prior to arrival, this is important, you may not get dining otherwise! Have a great time!

We booked our PR CL Lagoon room over 12 months ago to ensure it would be available without issue. This is even more important if you are planning to go during one of the busier times of the year...even Value times can book up lately as weather events have shifted vacation destinations and an increase in attendance in the 'value seasons.'

Overall, the earlier you make your reservations the better especially if you are looking to reserve a specific room category.

I think it's good advice to book early - as others have said. However, don't stress too much about this ... I have never booked a trip more than five months in advance and have never had a problem. That being said, if you want the peace-of-mind that comes with knowing your room is reserved well in advance, go for it.

Good Luck

Is it possible for me to call and book a "room only" reservation at the poly now and then change over to a package once I decide what else we want to include in the trip or do I have to do it all at once?

Also, what about room preference - if I am still unsure of whether I want lagoon view or garden view, should I book lagoon first just to be safe? I'm trying to cover all my bases here

TIA

We booked our trip to the Poly for next week in late May of this year. No problem with availability. Also, we booked the dining reservations 3 weeks ago and had no trouble getting times we wanted (except for Mama Melrose). So I guess book early if you want, but know that it isn't necessary to stress about for a year IMO. :flower:

i have never had a problem getting the polynesian. we always book last minute and i have always been able to have my pick of rooms. we went during may twice and once in august. i would not think september would be any different since it is a pretty slow month. if it makes you feel better go ahead and book it, but i wouldn't worry about it till next summer. as far as the room view i would get a garden view and spend the $$ on something else. the garden views here are beautiful and you can always walk down to the beach to see the castle and fireworks. but then again i am cheap . anyway you decide you will have a great time, this is a beautiful resort.

Don;t feel cheap about a garden view. On your reservations, just say you would like a nice view from your window. You never know what magic will be bestowed upon you.

Also - My DS & DD get bored with fireworks from the window after 3 days of it.
We had a tower room at CR ($$$'s per night) and after the 3rd day they did not care. They had seen enough fireworks(from the room and at the parks) to last a year.

I think a garden room would be better. Maybe a few bees, butterflys or birds will come to visit outside. My kids would even watch spider catchng a fly in a web over fireworks everynight :)

enjoy !
