We are planning our next trip to WDW in around Dec 9, 2006. I am wondering how far in advance should I book my reservation for ASMo? The reason I am not booking right now is to avoid the $200 charge upfront and I am not sure how many people will be traveling in our group. I do know the number that will be in our room though. Any suggestions here?

I always say the sooner the better. We were at WDW in August and just last week I booked for next Aug. I would die if I called later in the year only to find out it was completely booked, so if you already know what your dates will be then just book it now. If not, I'M sure at least by Jan., 2006 you should still be okay, but no later than that.

I believe there is a 200 deposit due at time of booking no matter when.

You are correct Cara, I knew that. I am wanting to avoid paying the $200 right now, before Christmas. I would like to save some more $$$ before having to pay that deposit. My main concern is waiting too late and not getting to stay at ASMo in the section we prefer.

Thanks for the info..... :)

oh my gosh, yes, we all feel your pain, the before Christmas $$$, and right after! I think if you wait a few months after Christmas you should be fine, If you wait until Feb, you are still booking pretty far out. Good Luck!

I am planning a trip for December 2006 too. In fact, my first choice was to check in on December 9, 2006. Unfortunately, the resort I was hoping for -- the contemporary -- already is sold out.

I'm guessing ASMo has so many rooms that this won't be a problem for you, but just a word of warning that if you must stay at a particular place at a particular time, I wouldn't wait too long.

ahh! I think I'm going to stay at the CBR or POR from July 1st July 7th 2006

I havent decided is why I havent booked.. Am I too late already?

I doubt it. But there's only one way to find out.

Is this new? When I booked in February I only had to give a deposit equal to one nights' rate.

I already know my dates for March 2007 (1st two weeks prior to spring break) but I'm still debating between POFQ and POR. There are plenty of rooms in that resort, you don't think there would be any chance of them filling up in the next several months do you?

It occurs to me that I'm freaking people out with my bad story about not being able to get into the contemporary on the exact dates that I wanted. I can't imagine that you'd have a problem for March 2007. I think I just picked the resort that has a lot of conventions, so it filled up on a particular date.

Both times we stayed on-site and made our reservations through Walt Disney Travel Company and they required the $200 deposit when we reserved our hotel. Who did you use to make your reservation? If I can make a reservation and only pay one night's rate, that may be the way to go.

We booked our 12/1/06 trip back in Aug.-with a package deal you need to pay $200. I'm not sure if a resort-only is also $200.00-I thought it was one night's stay (? :confused3 ).

I'd book asap for December dates. Why not wrap the 2006 Birnbaum Guide to WDW and put it under the tree for the whole family for Christmas? I certainly understand about the money being short around the holidays, but there's no reason your family can't understand that this trip is THE big gift this year...and then sit around and brainstorm creative ways to save money starting Christmas Day until you leave. I swear our 2 kids were so excited to go the first time, they hardly paid their other gifts any attention. :cool1: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I booked through CRO.

As you can see from my counter, our dates have changed dramatically! We have moved up the trip by about 51 weeks....YAHOO!!! Anyway, we called to make reservations yesterday for DEC 19-24 and made them at POFQ. Not exactly where I had originally planned to stay but there are 3 other families of friends who are staying there and we decided to keep the group close together. There was still availability at this late date and at the discounted rate. We also booked MVMCP for DEC 20th. I am so excited!!!!! Not much time left for planning though.

when you are booking a room only - not a package, it's equivalent to one night's stay to hold your room. If you are booking a package (room and tickets +), it's a $200.00 deposit.

I booked a Dec 16th 2005 reservation at the Polynesian (for two rooms - Lagoon view) the beginning of this September - a little more than 90 days before arrival. It was for room only and required the first night as a deposit. I was also in the Polynesian this past Jan and had booked that room about 60 days before arrival.

What type of room were you trying to book? I just booked my sister this morning for Dec 9th and 10th of 2006 at the Contemporary in a Garden View. They also had Tower with or without MK view available.
