ours worked fine (in early oct).
the only problems we had were changing FP+ & dining times. we couldn't fully access MDE on our cels (would've brought a tablet if we had known), and the MDE kiosks in DHS weren't working the entire time.
we just called dining (the "old fashioned way"), and got paper FPs a few times (btw, we had 3 FP+ booked for EPCOT, and the DHS kiosk would only allow us to ADD additional FP+'s at DHS, rather than change them).
we really liked the convenience of our MBs. if we had one complaint, it would be that the testing phase did make headliner FP queues insanely long, as many used both paper FP & FP+ (e.g., all FP's gone within 30 minutes of park opening, FP line for safari about an hour, loooong lines for even less popular attractions such as TGMR - which i love). we've been going the same time every year, and have never seen the lines so long (tho crowds were the same).
the entire MDE/FP+/magic bands 'experience" notably improved by the end of our vacation - they are really working on getting the system perfect

have you worn the it for any period of time 'testing' at home? Wondering if it feels bulky or hot. We were considering just looping it on our lanyard or belt loop but not sure if the weight or size will be an issue.

we didn't mind them in the parks, walking around, etc (i took the black extender off mine, else it slid off my hand), but took them off anytime we were in the room, sleeping, off-site.
they are a bit stiff, but barely noticeable when walking (even in heat, rain), and easy to get off/on.
