How exactly do you transfer an ADR?

Who are you transferring the ADR to? I assume you'd only transfer an ADR if it was made in one name and needs to be changed to another. In that case you could just call and ask for the name to be switched.
 
When two of us exchanged, we did a PM with our name and ADR number and then each of us called in to change the name on our original ADR. Each CM is different as one will say the person whose name it is in has to do the transfer, but then another one will change them on both sides with just one phone call.

And yet another CM will tell you the name can't be changed at all! (which was my experience when I called to try to do this)
 
After trying unsuccessfully to switch my ADR to another's name, I gave up. I simply gave the other family my last name and confirmation number.

If one doesn't mind being the "mylastname" family at the podium, I don't either ;)

My Dad always says, "If you don't like the answer the first time you call, hang up and call again." :rotfl:
 
I had some ADRs transferred to me for my trip last month. Rather than confuse the CM at the podium, I just told her that my friend had gotten ill and was not able to use the ADR so gave it to me. I had her name, confirmation number, and reservation number as well.

My experience was the same. I called 3 different times. The first CM told me "NO." and was very rude about it. The second one told me no, was nicer, and then after talking to him for a few minutes magically said he COULD make the change after all...took the new party's last name and phone number and said the ADR was then changed. I looked it up online before giving the confirmation # to them and it was still in my name and number which I couldnt have because I was replacing it with something else and did not want to double booked. I called a third time and told the third CM that the guy before her told me it COULD be done and took her name and phone number and told me it was changed...but she argued with me and said she didn't know why he would do that because the system doesn't allow it and the only way to would be to cancel and then try to rebook with no guarantee of getting it back.

I ended up making sure I had their last name, phone #, and email and canceled it late that night and rebooked it with the new party's information. It came up right away when I searched for it. But again, I recommend doing this late at night so your chances of someone else booking it before you are not as high.
