I'm going back for my MBA and thought that this may be an interesting poll. I was a latecomer to higher education. Started back for my Bachelor's in 1990 when I was 25 and it took 10 years going part time, working full time, raising a family, etc. to get it. After 3 years "off" going back and hopefully it will take me about 2 years. I'm the family poster child for all the nieces and nephews to go right after high school if possible and stick with it!

Peace

Congratulations on your dedication and hard work. I did my undergraduate and graduate degrees while working and it is a challenge. Good luck.

Both DH and I hold Master's degrees. We got them while working full time and starting a family. It was hard, we were young but it paid off in the long run.

I graduated from college in three years at the age of 20 - I was in a hurry to make some money, and it meant one less year of student loans.

I never thought I would go back to school, but I went back full time for an MBA (Stanford) at the age of 28. What a great decision.

OKay,, its really DH who has his masters....that's how I voted. Masters in Construction from Ohio State....he is currently also working on his MBA.

I have a Bachelors.

I am currently working on my master's degree while staying home with DS who is 2. It's not easy but being in DVC and participating in this board really de-stresses me when I need it!

Thanks for all the responses and votes!

I think I read or heard somewhere that only 1% of the world's population has college degrees.
We are blessed to have wide access and opportunities to advanced education. If you have the desire, you can do it. It's never too late to go back to school.

Glad we have the DIS and DVC to help get us through the struggles

Peace,

I voted for master's. as that is what DW has (MLS to be exact), I only have a Bachelor's.

Thank you so much for this thread! I have a master's degree, while DH has been working since high school. He has a few credits under his belt from several years ago, and has decided to go back to school full time in January to finish his degree in engineering. It's going to be hard and take several years, during which we also expect to start a family, but we expect that it will pay off in the long run. Your experiences have helped me understand that this is the case and that it can be done. Thanks!

Kick it up a notch.

Yeah, I had thought about that when creating the poll, but decided to go with the paper trail, since it's a bit cleaner whn you have that degree in hand.

Speaking of hard knocks or experience. This is a pretty popular saying, but for those who may not have heard it.

"Experience gives the test first, then the answers afterwards"

Jecca,
Glad you enjoy the thread and tell your DH to keep the goal in mind during his pursuit (trips to WDW will also help!)

Peace,

Just last week, I heard the statistic that 25% of Americans have graduated from college.

DH has a Masters plus, and I have Bachelors plus. I am not surprised that so many DVC members are college educated.

Both DW and I have our Bachelors degree. I am currently working on my Masters. It is slow going; working full time & raising a little one. Our annual trip to Disney World is my stress reliever. :D

Congrats to everyone who pursues knowledge and education.
I left an engineering job at 31 (1993) to pursue a career in medicine.
Would have been impossible if not for my wonderful DW.
Luckily, I got accepted to med school. Its not easy having a family and pursuing an education.
gtrist, I too am the family poster child. Go to college while you are single and young.
Even though I finished school, I realized that life is a constant learning process, so I just keep on studying.
Good Luck and Godspeed to all who are still pursuing-hang in there, I know you can do it!

I got my Master's about 15 years ago, and just went back to school this fall. 12 hours of class per week plus working more than fulltime. Hard to juggle, but it's a good healthy challenge for me.

Good luck to all pursuing any level of education! :D

My Dh spent 20 years in the Navy and has great work experience, but no degree. I quit college to marry him. While we may not be college educated, we are fairly intelligent.

No one said education was the same as being intelligent. After all, isn't it obvious that anyone intelligent enough to buy into dvc is pretty darn smart? :)

EXCELLENTLY PUT, LISA!!!!
Some of the most educated people I know don't have enough intelligence to come in out of the rain!
Just owning the DVC puts one in the top 1% intelligence wise, IMHO!:teeth:

I have a Masters and Rank I(which is only recognized in a few states) which is 30 hours beyond a Masters degree. DH has a Masters and is working on his Rank I as well. I got my Masters while working full time, and finished up my Rank with a baby at home. It is hard! I feel for you!!! But think of all that extra cash you'll be making which will help you pay for more Disney trips!

Enjoy!
