How easy would this be?

DF and I are currently booked for twelve nights in September 2011, with Virgin Holidays.

Depending on finances etc, we might like to extend the trip closer to the departure date say approx May/June..

How easy would this be? I know theres an amendment charge but I'd be slightly worried about availability. We'll be having the free dining, quick service so would we also get it for the extended days? Also, would it be charged at a higher rate as its closer to the time...?

I don't know if it would be better to extend it sooner, rather than later

Your room will only be charged at a higher rate if it is being offered at a higher rate at the time you make your change. Ditto if the rate is less for those additional days.

In terms of availability your biggest worry is flights. I know it is not always possible to be completely accurate, but you really would be better off taking some time (and it will take some time ) and working out what your finances are likely to be and whether you can afford it - then make the change as soon as possible. From the moment flight seats (stand alone, i.e. not part of a package) go on sale around 11 months beforehand, your options based on availability decrease at a rapid rate. This obviously also depends on how busy the flights are and how flexible you can be.

with virgin holidays you will prob pay the same amount you are paying now unless they change the prices in newer brochures

the problem you may face is their allocation of rooms may have been booked and again the return flight may be all booked up

as you will be increasing the value of the holiday there should be no amendment fees
