How easy to stay at "non-home" resort?

This thread made me think of a couple of questions. First, is January and early February (before President's holiday week) a difficult time to make a reservation at the 7 month window?

If you can avoid MLK weekend, the weekend of the WDW marathon (January) and President's Day weekend, they are not very busy times at all.

Also, how difficult is it (if you are very flexible with time of year) to get a grand villa at OKW if your home resort is somewhere else? I am interested in the GV for a family trip at some point, however, at SSR the number of points needed is so much higher that I would only be able to do a couple of days (we only have 160 points). Thanks!

For those same time periods, probably not impossible. If memory serves there are only 26 Grand Villas at OKW. VERY short supply.

If you're convinced that only a Grand Villa will get you what you want, then you may want to consider working a deal with an OKW owner to book at 11 months. If you're willing to consider a 2B and a Studio as an alternative if the GV isn't available, then just wait until 7 months and give it a shot.

Thanks tjkraz. I am not married to a GV, but would love to get one at some point for a family trip. A 2 BR and a studio would work fine too. Great advice, thanks!
