I was wondering how buying additional points works. we just bought at AKL villas with 225 points with a uy of oct 1. now suppose in five years we decide to add additional points. Would we be able to and have them coincide with our original points regarding uy? And if they were not the same uy, how would that affect making reservations in regards to our eleven month window at our home resort?
Thanks

You Will Always Get Same Use Year And 11 Month Window It Is Your Home Enjoy It !

Add on through Disney is much like your original purchase. You call your guide, agree to the add-on, put something down or pay all via credit card (or mail a check), they send you all the same kinds of documents you got before (contracts, disclosure manuals) and you go through the same signing and return of forms process as before. Disney will sell you only the same use year that you already have when doing an add-on unless (a) you specifically request otherwise, AND (b) your add-on is for the amount a new purchaser has to get, currently 160 points.

Just added on 100 pts at OKW. It was very easy! We called our guide just before our December visit and told him what we wanted. He check to see where points were avaiable for our UY. Since we were adding less than 160pts, we had to buy the same UY.
We decided and then.... we met with our guide... and signed everything. It took about 30min. Since we did everything "right there", it was very easy.
Points showed on our account by the time we got home.

:yay:

I just did a 25 point add on to our AKV points. It was easy! Called our guide, used a credit card for the deposit, and the new sub contract with the new points showed up on the member site the next day!

Just waiting for the paperwork to arrive. And as has been stated, our new points are the same use year as our original AKV points.

Just did a 110 point add on at VWL in December through DVC. Very easy. Got the same use year, points available immediately, everything went very smoothly.

So even if they aren't selling at those resorts anymore, adding on is not a problem?
thanks for all the info. you guys are great.
Stephen.

There are almost always points available for the sold out resorts. You may have to go on a waiting list if your use year is not available immediately at the resort at which you are looking to add on.

adding-on is way to easy!

We've been members for less than 4 years and we've done 3 add-ons already!

Actually, it's even easier than this. We've added on three or four times ... all through resale. We've purchased all additional points through the Timeshare Store (one of the sponsors here). The new points come in as separate contracts, but we always bought in our original Use Year to keep things easy. It's much less expensive than going through DVC, and was virtually seamless.

Good luck with whatever approach you take.
