How easy or difficult is it to rent points?

My husband and I are still looking for a resale. We are currently looking at one that has too many points, therefore we were wondering how easy is it to rent points. Also, what is the rental fair market value per point? We would love to hear your experiences.

We rented points from a DVC member recently. The whole transaction was pretty easy. We contacted the person from a post on the DIS.

It appears to be fairly easy to find people to rent points - but you should get some opinions from members who rent.

The going rate seems to be about $10 per point. However, there has been some debate about that. At $10 I think it is easy to find people to rent - but people have gotten more.

I think whether we rent points again depends on our experience at WDW this Nov using rented DVC points (and whether we buy DVC ourselves). If we do rent in the future I'll look for posts from you. Good luck.

I've been on both sides of the rental transaction. While it's not hard to rent points, why would you want to buy more than you need? You have 40 years before DVC is done. Do you really want to rent out your points every year for the next 40? I think you should wait for a package with the number of points you actually need or buy directly from Disney.

I would agree - buy the number of points (or a little more than) you need.

However, if this is a resale with pts banked and need to be used this year, but the yearly allocation is what you need, then go for it and try to rent them out.

You hit the nail on the head. We are buying exactly what we want, but we have banked points that we will not use.

I had great luck renting points, actually it was almost easier than using our own. I rented from someone who had experience doing it though. Also, if the dates you want are not available right away and you have some time before your trip, don't be afraid to wait list. We got all the nights we wanted within 3 days.
