I've just found some great airfare for our trip in July. orginally we had planned on driving from IL, but I found Round trip air fare for about $450. We don't really want to rent a car, since we are both under 25. I figure it will cost the same if we fly or drive. But we really wanted to check out the other resorts on this trip to help us decide where to stay for our 1st anniversary in Feb. 2006. Is it easy to see the other resorts with Disney Transportation or should we just drive? Thanks in advance! :cheer2: :cheer2:

It is perfectly possible to resort hop using Disney transportation but can be a bit time consuming. A car makes it easier and quicker, but I wouldn't hire one just for that reason.

Keep in mind that, unless your bus stops at another resort on the way to a park to pick up more guests, buses don't typically run from resort to resort. You normally need to take a bus from a park to a resort.

However, if you want to see the monorail resorts, that's very easy to do from MK. Just get on the resort loop and you can tour Poly, GF and CR. But WL is not on the monorail, so you'd miss that via the monorail.

If you want to see the EPCOT area resorts, you can take the boat that runs between EPCOT and MGM, and it stops at YC/BC, Swan/Dolphin, and BW on the way.

And if you can't hire a car, then you'll need to use the WDW transportation for it....most of the resorts you cannot walk to.....keep that in mind, just in case!! :Pinkbounc

We wouldn't rent a car, we could but they tack on so many fees if you are under 25. I don't see how one year can make such a big deal. Oh, well. :confused3
I think we'll just drive. This way we can go see all the resorts and not have to worry about catching a bus.

The deluxe hotels are easy to hop to. Take your resort bus to the MK and then take the boat or monorail to the MK resorts. Take your resort bus to the Disney-MGM Studios then walk or take the boat to the EPCOT resorts. Take the bus from any theme park to the AKL.

Hopping to the moderate or value resorts will be more time consuming but I think a lot less inconvenient than driving all the way to WDW. You could always take a cab. Spend part of your day in a theme park and just take the resort bus back to the moderate or value hotel you want to visit. If you're going to end your night at PI or a theme park take the bus there and then back to your resort. If you want to go back to your resort just grab a cab.

We did this the first night DW's family arrived during our trip last year and it was a blast. Me and DW both had our AP's so we could go to parks but their PHP's didn't start till the next day, so we spent the first night resort hopping ending with AKL and a PS at Jiko. We took the bus from POFQ to MK and hopped on the Monorail. Checked out GF, CR and POLY. (You could also take the boat to WL from here if you wanted to). Next, we got off the monorail and caught the bus to AKL where we had our dinner. It was a great way to spend the evening without heading to a park and the Disney transportation was very convienent, which we always find it to be. :wave2:

You could always take a cab to and from any of the resorts as well.

BTW, if it were up to me, I would fly. This way you won't lose any of your vacation days driving. It will give you more time at WDW.

We did this and it is easy as long as you understand Disney transportation. You guys do not seem to be talking about taking kids with you so it seems that this will be a good thing that both of you are interested in. First where are you staying? If staying at an All Stars, they are pretty much the same no matter the theme. Once you have seen one you really have no surprises just a different theme. Remember Disney busses go to the parks and to resorts but not from resort to resort. Use a resort or park as you transfer station. example. Staying at All Stars and want to see POR? Take the bus to any park and wait at the bus stop marked for POR. That bus picks you up and you can then go into POR. You can then walk to POFQ. After that you can board a boat to Downtown Disney and eat somewhere. Then take the bus to another resort you are interested in. Read about and pick the resorts that you two are mnost interested in adn that sound like fun to you. That will narrow the filed down adn not tie up so much time. It can make for a nice time. We enjoyed doing this. You must remember if at a resort (not on the monorail) you must use a park as a transfer station.
