I'm certain this is not the correct forum for this question, so please feel free to re-post.

I'm essentially retired. I'm 52. I love Disney and I'm thinking about buying a condo in the area and would love to work there. I have a background in finance (I was a stock broker for 15 years), and I have a degree in Economics. I would be content working in a back office position. Or possibly even front desk at a resort. I would prefer not to work outside, as I'm a bit sensitive to the heat. :-)

I started at MK at age 63 in 2009. When you apply, you put in your "job" preferences. If they have those openings coming up, you will get called in to Casting for an interview. After that, wait for a call. All relative to what openings and work status (full time / part time / seasonal) are available for the time frame and what role you are interested in.

One thing to remember, in most roles, you do have to put your previous work "experiences" behind you and learn to work in "the Disney way". Trust me, it can be different and somewhat daunting to do. As we grow older in our work lives, we sometimes get "set in our ways" of doing things.

It's a lot of fun although you do also have to get used to an open for business life that is 24/7/365. Depending on scheduling, your weekend might be Tuesday & Wednesday. LOL

I went to apply for a bus driving position one time when I was visiting there. They did talk to me because people with an active CDL are not that plentiful. After a nice conversation they basically told me that I would have a very good chance of being hired IF I had a Florida address. They weren't, at the time, interested in going through the entire hiring process only to have people decide that it was to big a move to uproot and head for Florida.

If you were already there, then you had already taken care of the biggest part of that situation and became a real legitimate candidate. Actually that made a lot of sense. Applying for an upper level position with big income is one thing. Making a drastic move for what the entry level people make was and still is a huge gamble for both them and you.
