We are planning to go to MK for EMH on Sunday 8/17. How early should we leave if we walk from the Contemporary?? Thanks

It's a short walk. If you leave at 7:45, you'll be there in plenty of time for the gates to open at 8. (They actually open the turnstiles before 8, but you don't get very far.)

When we stayed at the Contemporary, we always left 45 minutes prior to the opening of the MK when we walked. That way we were one of the 1st in line, and 1 of the 1st through the gates. We just love the feeling of walking down a deserted Main Street in the early morning mist with the sunlight behind the castle. We would take a paperback and read while we were waiting to pass the time.

I am a true Disney Nazi, though... so maybe 1/2 hour would work better for you, but I wouldn't cut it any closer!

Hi Eeyore0062 I'm wondering if you are one of the 1st people in the park are the rides open? If not what time do they open and do you start to line up early for the best rides? I've never made it to the park that early but I think it would be fun. Sure would be nice to get at least one major ride out of the way before the park gets to crowded. I always avoid EME, I figured the park would be extra crowded that day. Is that the case?

Thanks for your responses! Now my next question is if we leave MK when it gets too crowded and hop over to MGM, how bad will it be there? I'm not too worried about doing TOT or RNRC that day because we will go for EMH on Tues. I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth it for us to take advantage of EMH. It just seems like we'll waste alot of time changing parks.
