just wondered how early do people start to plan, book, make lists and start to buy things for your next holiday?

My sil and family came to fla with us a few weeks ago-her 9th time there, and she is now in planning mode for next october/november, looking at villas flights etc etc. Its never to early to plan!!!

As soon as the previous one's finished - sometimes before that if we want to visit for a certain event! Mostly we're looking at a year in advance - it's really addictive... ;)

We came back on the 2 sept and booked yesterday for next July.Personally i think it gives you something to look forward to, plus there are 15 of us going next year.

Often a year or so in advance, on occasions we have had 2 booked at the same time and I am sure many others have too.

as others have said, usually as soon as the previous one has finished...
but no later than 6 months in advance..

only once did we spontaneously jump on a plane for WDW without any advance planning...and that was right after we'd just returned...
we got back the first week of august and were on a plane heading back less than one week later.....that was fun.....

I remember you doing that Beth, it must have been class going back that quick.

We have booked this year's holiday which was in August in March 2006, and next year's holiday in July in February 2007. Once I know where I want to go and when I just want to get it booked up asap.

it was so much fun - no planning - no adrs - no schedule - nothing...just did whatever as the spirit moved us...
i would never advise anyone to do that....but it was so much fun that one time...

I think the more times you go the more relaxing you can make the holiday because you can just pick and choose what to do. The first time you visit you feel like you want to do everything. Our holiday this year was the most relaxing one we had.:goodvibes

If i can, i like to start as early as possible, maybe a couple of years ahead - it helps to keep the magic alive.

This time round we have booked flights on a spur of the moment kind of thing - lots of planning to get on with now......

yes i think you're right....but i have commando tendencies (my kids used to refer to me as the disney nazi when we were there - jokingly - but only half jokingly)....so my big task now is to try to keep those commando tendencies in check....
the funniest thing was last year, when my daughter went to hong kong disney - she went with two friends who'd never been at disney anywhere.......so she called up after they got back to the hostel to tell me how much fun they all had in the park and how she'd turned into the disney nazi - meaning the organizer......(since i wasn't there to organize it)....
we'll see how things go for her this year - she just landed in tokyo 6 hours ago, but she won't get to tokyo disney until the end of her trip....i can't wait to hear about it....nothing like living vicariously... ;)

I already know that I want to be back in WDW for my Grandson's 5th B-day in 2010, and exactly where would like to stay, How far in advance WILL disney take a reservation? :confused3 I'm sure we will visit between now and 2010, but that would will be extra special so I would like to make sure I get the hotel we want. Website will not go that far in advance.
