This may be in the wrong forum but the Rent/Trade forum is only posts of actual offers so I figured here would be good.

I was bitten by the Disney bug this past summer when we rented Poly for 10 days. It was supposed to be our family's one time, blow out style trip. Long story short I've convinced DW to return in 2021 amd we want to stay at Beach Club. I'd love to rent points again as it was way more economical than I could have ever imagined.

The question I have is do people rent their points before the 11 month mark? I just know that BCV flies so I'd like to have it lined up ahead of time instead of waiting for the 11month mark and then no one posts for 2 weeks with points amd by then the availability is gone.

People do but if you find an owner who will expect to pay a premium rate, and don't calculate based on $16 or 18 per point. Don't expect bargains if you want someone online at 8am for a high demand resort in a high demand season

Definitely not looking for bargain basement pricing. Even at 20+ a point it's less than rack rate or even the summer discounts that we've seen these last few summers. I'm also not talking about booking BCV during F&W or Spring Break.

But they can't book it until 11 months out. Summer shouldn't be too hard to get right at 11 months out. Plan on paying something for them to make the reservation and then full payment once it is made. AND - this is important - ignore any private messages you get from people offering you their points or a confirmed reservation. That is how unsuspecting people get scammed. Notify the Webmaster if you get any private messages offering you points.

I know they can't book it early I am just hoping to lock up someone to rent with before the 11 month window. Also...thanks for letting me know about the PM scammers.

I'm working on wearing down DW on that one. I have been eyeing 150 to 200 point contracts for a few months now.

Good luck on that one. If you go to Disney even once every 2-3 years, it's worth having your own Resale contract. And if you can't go as often as you hope, you can become the renter, not the one renting. I see it as a win-win. If there wasn't the ability to rent out / transfer points, I wouldn't even own DVC, as I don't see myself going to Disney more often than once every 3 years, but when I do want to go, I can book rooms for myself and control my own reservations.

Great3

So I woke up this morning. Went to the kitchen for my coffee and my wife says, "just do it." Since I'm not a Nike guy I knew she meant buying in. Now the question will become where and how much.

look at somewhere with decent resale prices and expires a long time from now and decent maintenance fees. You have some resorts that expire in like only 22 years. Okw, Boardwalk, beach club, etc. some other resorts that takes a lot of points a night poly, grand floridian, etc. if I was to buy anymore I would look into animal kingdom. I’m guessing the maintenance fees are not Cheap there with the high cost to take care of the animals and the added bus cost since most of the places is far off. Good luck do your homework.

We have eliminated BCV and BWV. Poly and BLT are high on our preferred list because of proximity to TTC and MK respectively. AKV has crossed our mind but it's MF are high and it's way out in the middle of nowhere. We are honestly considering SSR, AKV, Poly, BLT and CC. In a perfect world BCV would be a 2057 or later end date.
