How early to see fireworks?

We're newbies - need some timing help! We have a 7pm ressie for Steakhouse 55 on a Sat in late Oct and the fireworks are at 8:40. Will we have time to get somewhere decent to see them? It's the only night during our stay that they're doing the fireworks so I'd hate to miss them. I could see if we can move the ressie if everyone thinks we should?? Lemme know your thoughts, not sure how long dinner there takes or how early people get settled for fireworks. TIA!

I don't think you'll be able to get a decent spot in time. With a nice, rather costly dinner, you probably don't want to rush it. And last weekend, LOW season, we staked out a spot an hour early... and plenty of other folks had already grabbed places. I'd reschedule your dinner for earlier or plan on missing the fireworks.

It would be my guess that by the time you're done with your lovely dinner the HUB and some other prime spots would already be taken. When we go to DL, we are planning on being in the HUB area for the fireworks about 2 hours before.

I moved our ADR back to 5:30. I assume that should do it?? Thanks all! (I can't believe, as a WDW vet, how easy it is to change ADRs this late in the game!!!)

We were there 1 1/2 hours before fireworks on the first day of Halloween season and were in front of the castle. Lots of people were there already; the curb in front of the castle was already full. 1 hour before the fireworks, the hub was full, so you may not be able to get the best spot. I would also reschedule dinner to catch fireworks.

I would move that reservation earlier or to a different day. You can "see" the fireworks from anywhere, but to get a sweet spot, you truly do need at least an hour before to nab a spot.
