How early to leave hotel when staying offsite

I'm staying at Windsor Hills, about 20 minutes from the parks. I saw a recommendation to leave 2 hours before opening for MK and 1 hour before opening for the other parks. Is that correct? What has been your experience?

Yes. 2 hours easily. Because you are off-site, you need to get to the Park property, in line for Parking, in the line after the parking booth for the lots, to the lots, to a tram to the TTC, to the TTC, to a Ferry or Bus or Monorail, to the Park. If you wait too long, you'll be behind a few tens of thousands of people trying to do the same thing, slowing you down.
