How early to get spots for Together Forever?

I’m going this weekend with my husband and also my parents. They expressed interest in going with us - cool! We’re trying to plan a near-perfect day in an attempt to get them to buy APs and go with us more. They live 15 minutes away but haven’t been for 15-20 years so we’re crossing our fingers.

Anyways - anyone have any idea how early we should stake out spots on Saturday night? I’m thinking 8-8:30 but I’m nervous since it’s opening weekend. All thoughts appreciates!

Where do you want to be to view the show? Front of the castle? I'm guessing prime spots will be gone several hours before the show, especially for those who want to photograph the projections. For Main Street, your timing should work fine if you aren't picky about exact spots. Keep an eye on reviews of the show starting tomorrow (the show unofficially debuted tonight). Those reviews will give you a much better idea about good spots and wait time approximations. Have a great time with your parents!

Oh wow! Okay glad I asked... we don’t typically wait for DLR fireworks so I assumed it would be similar to opening night of Happily Ever After last year at Magic Kingdom in WDW. We were 1.5 hours early for that and had a perfect view. Sounds like that won’t cut it.

Although, I think the projections on Main Street are often cooler than being directly in front of the castle here at DLR so maybe I’ll just roll the dice, keep an eye on crowds, and grab a center spot on Main Street. Thanks for the input!

I haven't been to an opening night of new entertainment so am certainly no expert. But the MK has far more viewing space out front than DL does. Plus DL has a much larger local AP base who love being part of anything new.

If you can go on Saturday when more APs are blacked out, it might be better.

Have you considered FPs for the first Fantasmic & watching fireworks from there. Lose the projections but gain Fantasmic!

Just a thought but are your parents really going to have such a great time standing around waiting for a firework show for 2 hours? Their final memories of the park will be the total crush of humanity as people leave after the show. (If they are huge Pixar fans it might be worth that though.)

Thankfully we will be going on Saturday!

My dad says fireworks are a must so we’ll have to do it one way or another. He’s big into animation (software engineer) and he even helped work on software that created Sully’s hair in Monsters Inc. I thought about viewing from Fantasmic but it seems like the projections are a big part of the show. When early reports come out I’ll read them and think it over. I really wish they had some sort of dining package for this!

That's so neat! I can DEFINITELY see why you'd want to see the firework show in the best possible spot for the fireworks and projections! Sounds like it would be a very special treat for him.

The castle projections are quite spectacular, but only the few guests between the Hub and Castle can fully view them.

You might be able to find a spot in front the Castle prior to the 6PM parade, or in the street on the Tomorrowland side after the parade passes.
Note: Although guests may SIT for hours waiting for Fireworks, they are usually required to STAND for the show.

Last time I watched fireworks they had a walkway roped off between the top of the hub and and the castle. Another time I watch Halloween fireworks and there was no walkway at the top of the hum. People had to go to the walkway at the middle of the hub to cross from one side to the other. Does anyone know how the walkway logistics are set up for the new fireworks?
