Hey all, this has probably been asked 1000 times, but how early should we arrive for World of Color during the Christmas season if we want a spot on the front rail in the red or yellow section?

Thanks!

Just to let you know, there isn't a red section anymore. "WoC Superthread":http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2542717

But to get a spot at the very front, during Christmas season, I would be there no later than 2 hours before the show starts.

And you can do this with a fast pass.....and being there the said 2 hours early??
That super thread is super long!!!!! And I have a super short attention span lately!!:lmao:

You don't need to read the whole thread, they update the 1st post with the new info!!

We went about 2 mos ago and lined up almost 2 hrs in advance. We got a spot on the rail but had we been in line much later we wouldn't. Definitely line up 2 hrs in advance to be safe. And get your FP early

If you read the entire WOC super thread, it'll actually confuse you more! ;) Just read Hydroguy's first post and maybe the last page or two for comments from people who have been very recently.

We went on a Sat in mid-October. I had planned on lining up 2 hours early, but saw people hanging out at the wall area where the yellow section line forms so I grabbed a spot at more than 2.5 hrs to the show. At the 2 hr mark, the line was already surprisingly long.

I didn't mind the wait too much as I chatted with others in line. Then, once you're in and have your spot, you can sit down to eat if necessary. I was tired and my feet hurt so it felt good to sit down for a while and enjoy my picnic dinner. DH took the kids to ride Mater while I waited. It worked out really well. I think you need to get a good viewing spot to really enjoy the show.

Bring a blanket. Not only will it mark your spot, but you won't have to sit directly on the ground. As folks crowd in, you need to have your territory staked out and blanket helps.

2HOURS!? :faint:
The Super Thread states 90 min. Are we talking Christmas break? Or anytime after the Christmas Season starts mid-November? We are going the week after T-giving. Do we need to line up 2 hours early the last week of Nov.?

Yeah, I'm going the week after Thanksgiving, too, and I was planning on 90 minutes. Why has it become 2-2.5 hours now? That's not going to happen with my three-year-old.

We were there mid-October on a fairly busy day. I got there 90 minutes before the show and there was already quite a long line - and they were letting people into the viewing area. We got a spot on the rail (splash zone), but if you want to be sure to get one of the "best" spots, you might need 2 hours. My suggestion if you're further back in the line, use the knowledge you gain here and don't be too quick to "follow the crowd." We started out following the crowd and I was less than thrilled with where we ended up, so I left my family in that spot and went searching a little. By skipping over the rest of the people already lined up on the rail (they basically stayed in the line, just moved up to the rail) and walking a little further, I got an on the rail, on the centerline almost perfect spot. :woohoo: Then, I had to make myself big enough to take up room for 6 more people until the rest caught up!

We must have gotten lucky.

We were there during spring break this year (last week of march for us) and we were running late...got in our line (yellow fastpass) about 30min before they let the lines start going in. We still ended up front row at the railing and had a fabulous view!

How long you wait depends on how bad the crowds are and on how flexible you are about your viewing spot. If you have set your heart on a specific spot and the park is crowded, then you should be prepared to wait at least 2 hours (if not more). If you don't want a specific spot, but just a generally good to OK view, then your wait can be much shorter. If you really don't care about your spot or if you are very tall, then you probably can get away without waiting much at all.

Also, the wait for the second show, if there is one, is usually shorter overall. So if your schedule allows, you may have better luck and a shorter wait with that show.

It is a Large show that can be seen very well from many areas. Personally I wouldn't wait for 2 hrs + for a spot in front, when you can see well from sidewalk.

If you must be in front, then arrive early with fastpass, or buy a dinner package that includes a reserved viewing area.

Otherwise 15 minutes early is all you need to stand somewhere in front of the lagoon
