How early to arrive for Illuminations FP+

We have got FP+ for Illuminations and I wondered how big the reserved viewing space is? Do Disney cram people in or is there room to move around? What time should we aim to arrive?

I'd get there at least 30-40 minutes before the start-time.

Views vary from good to very good to excellent, depending on various factors (guest height being one of them. Whether guests stand or sit on the pavement is another.)
Yes, there can be a lot of people in there.

And, if the wind happens to be blowing from the south, off of the Lagoon towards the FP+ area,
forget that you have FP and pick another viewing spot that night.
