How early for "early check in"?

Is there a benefit to early check in - early early? Our trip is 185 days outs - why would I check in now? Or why not? Wondering if there is a benefit to be being one of the first rather than one of the last to check in?

Do you mean online check-in that you can do prior to arriving? The benefit is that you may receive a text or email when your room is ready which will allow you to bypass the front desk entirely. You can just go straight to your room. It also allows you to have your credit card already linked and pin already set to ensure an expedited check-in experience.

As far as physically checking in at the resort, you can check-in anytime after 6am on your arrival day, although your room may not be ready yet. The benefit of checking in early is that it gives you a better opportunity to receive a room that meets any requests you have. The CMs have a larger pool of room inventory to move things around in when you're checking in earlier in the day. If you check-in very late, the rooms left will be slim pickings if you want to request a room different from what you've been assigned for whatever reason.

Is there a difference between online checking in 180+ days or 18 hours?

Online check-in becomes available 60 days prior to the start of your trip. If you are asking whether there is a difference if you do online check-in on the day it becomes available versus a day or two before your trip, the answer is no. It makes no difference.

You mean online check in.
There's no NEED to do it this far out but I always do it as soon as possible just so its done.
I like having the option of having all my info on there including approx arrival time and room requests and the fact that I have successfully avoided a trip to the front desk each visit since 2015.

I did online check in yesterday at 107 days out. Mostly is did it because I was trying to see balance owed on my room only reservation and must have touched the cancel my reservation button by accident. I didn’t follow thru on the cancel but backed out quickly, but for peace of mind I did the online check in. At 107 days before. I have had the option available to do online check in since I made the ressie in January, but hadn’t planned on doing that til closer to my dates. Until I scared myself into doing it yesterday. Not sure there is any benefit at all to doing it at 107 days vs 10 days.
Last year I just enjoyed not having to stop at the desk to check in since the room number was texted to my phone and we got in with magic bands. I plan on doing the online check in every time now for the ease of it.

Online checkin is available for my trip for February.

It is not a 60 day thing anymore.

So lucky.

I’ve done whatever version of online checkin they’ve had since well before bands and room ready texts etc.

Before room ready became a thing they routinely lost my info so I had to spend the time at the front desk redoing it.

And since room ready became a thing I literally got my first text based on it this year. First!!

Editing to add...and the room ready text was for my *second* reservation of the trip. Had to hit the front desk for the first one, but the second reservation I got the text.

When and to whom do you show your AP, though, if you needn't stop by the front desk? I'm supposed to buy one for this trip to BCV.

If you're entering any room requests you should do it at least a week or so out, so it's there before they assign your room. Other than that there's no difference.
