Now that hours have finally come out for our trip... planning can begin!!

How early do you you usually go before rope drop?

We are going to aim to do rope drop at DL on Dec 4 and 6 and at DCA on Dec 5. How early do you suggest getting there?

I was there for that same weekend (CP) two years ago and did rd. If you want to be right in the front of the line and one of the first at the gate, then I"d recommend getting to the park for security about 75 minutes before rd. If you want to be towards the front, then 45 minutes will work.

Thanks! But I'm a bit confused.. 75 mins early but only 45 mins if I want to be close to the front?

So I'm not sure about cp weekend but I've been there the week after (we land 12/5 so our first day is 12/6) and the crowds are there but mellow, however the park hours are a bit later for opening. With that in mind I'd recommend being in the security line an hour before opening or maybe a tiny bit before but not much more. the later the opening the earlier you'll need to go to be in front. Also don't forget to look for a forgotten line down the row that may have no/less people in it! Also other then PP as long as you are walking "with a purpose" and in front-ish you'll be fine for all the other rides. Have fun and see you at RD on 12/6!

We leave the hotel 1 hour before rope drop. We usually stay at the DLH, and walk to the security and line up. We are usually 2nd or 3rd in line.

75 minutes (and you'll probably be waiting at line at security) if you want to be right at the gate for rope drop and 45 minutes if you want to be towards the front of the line (you might be 25 to 50 people or more away from the front of the line) going through the turnstiles. Hope this is a little clearer. This is all approximate depending on crowds and if you are going into the park that has mm/emh or not. If they let folks through the turnstiles before rd then you will line up again at the rd for the area of the park you want to head into--which can make a difference for rides that can build up an early line like PP, RSR, TOT.

Makes sense now! Thanks!

Every morning we are there opens at 8am except for one morning at 9am, and the one morning we might rope drop DCA is 10am. So a bit of a variety, so will need a bit of planning!

I think part of it depends on where you want to go first in the park. If it's Tomorrowland, you'll need to get there earlier. I always head to Fantasyland first so arriving at the front gates at about 45 minutes prior to open usually allows me to be right at the rope for rope-drop. Tomorrowland tends to attract more people and crowds are deeper at the rope at rope-drop for that land.

Have a great time!

I think we are flexible for where we go! Probably one of those mornings will be aimed are fantasyland because I've never been on Peter Pan!! Haha

Be at the entrance 30 minutes before the park opens.
It really doesn't matter if you are at the front of the entrance. It matters if your at the actual rope by the hub.

Yes Peter Pan is a must do at park opening but if you end up at the very end of line without seeing the Peter Pan entrance it is better to skip then come back much later in the day when you have done almost everything else and waiting 30 minutes isnt a big deal.

Dumbo should be 2nd, then Alice, Toad, Casey Jr., Pinocchio, Snow White.

The later early opening is, the more people will be in line. So when eo is at 9, be at security 7:45 to be up front. If eo is 7:00, there will be less people there so 6:00 is going to put you up front.
