How long before it starts do you get go to get seats? Do you go earlier or later at different parts of the year?

we were there last Saturday an hour out and the seats were 2/3 filled. we sat towards the top dead center. the park was packed because of the soap opera thing. we do WDW during the off-peak times and an hour out usually gets us a very good seat.

I don't want to steer you wrong, but we got there about 1 1/2 hrs before it started, (Dec2004), absolutly needlessly! If you want the best seat in the house, yes, get there that early. If we do it again, we would get there 1/2 hr early, hope for the best, and probably get a decent seat. The theatre is HUGE!

A lot depends on the time of the year. We've been during peak season, and at 40 minutes out the stands were full. We've been during slow times and walked up 10-15 minutes beforehand. You really need to judge the overall park crowds for this one. Not just the day MGM crowds, a lot of people will "hop" over just for the nighttime shows.

A good builiding average would be 45 minutes. If it's the holidays or spring break time then I'd go w/ a good 60-90 early. If it's late January and nothing is going on- then you'll probably be able to do 15-20 and be fine.

If there is only one show get there as soon as they open the gates, about an hour and a half before the show.

If there are two shows, you can get a great seat about 20 minutes before the show starts at the second show.

We always go about an hour out when we go nov/dec time and that works for us.

always found it best near the top of the auditorium, so you dont get stuck too much with the crowds.

Ill be there next week...cant wait

We got the Fantasmic Dinner Package and went to our seats about 1/2 hour before the show---there were still plenty of seats in the reserved section at that time. :flower:

Usually head in to get a seat about 60 minutes prior to showtime (at the latest). During peak times, this may not even be enough (although they now open the stadium only 90 minutes prior to showtime as opposed to the previous 120 minutes). Still...my last visit at MGM was very quiet (everything was a walk-on) and still the stands were pretty much filled 30 minutes before showtime.

Depends on the time of the year. During slow and normal times, I'd say 35-45 minutes. During busier times of the year, 60 minutes

This is absolute truth, but take it for what it's worth.

Thursday, November 19th, 2004 - (One year and one day ago today....)

Weather was fine - only one showing of Fantasmic at 7:00 PM

This is a direct cut and paste from my trip report:

Mom and Son did baby swap for Tower of Terror while the rest of the group grabbed seats for Fantasmic with 2 minutes to spare. We were in the very last section, but it was nice not waiting very long for the show to start. Off-season definitely does not require showing up 90 minutes early for this show even if there is only one showing that night. Mom and Son arrived about 3 minutes into the show and found us spread out comfortably in the bleachers. After the show, we sat around and waited for the crowd to disperse and then took our time exiting the amphitheater. Son looked around in Character Sketches then we took the tram to the parking lot and drove to the hotel.

Just goes to prove that showing up at the last minute can be OK, but we were there at a slow time of the year.

I'm sure it's much more important to arrive early during busier times.

Hope this helps,
Mav
