How early do you book your resort?

We are planning a February 2006 trip, and I want to book my hotel room reservations at POFQ now. Is it too early to book? I know I will have to wait for possible codes/packages to come out, but if I can start putting money towards the room for the next year, that would be great! Any advice?

I do like to book as soon as possible....it makes it feel more real to me. And if it helps to be able to pay off the hotel sooner good for you :goodvibes

However keep in mind that if the rates for the rooms do go up in 2006 you will have to pay the difference....that's what I've heard anyway. Plus with their great cancellation policy you can change your dates or cancel altogether without much of a penalty :bitelip:

I booked our room April 04 for our upcoming Nov 05 trip. I like to do that ahead of time too. They just warn you prices may change(increase of course) but I like having that part done too. I would say go ahead and book now.

Yep, we're planning a late Jan 2006 trip & I'm going to book in the next few weeks!

I try to book our hotel as soon as we pick our dates.

Ideally what I like to do is book our trip a year out & pay a hotel room night a month. Then buy my tickets. By the time I get there we only have to pay for souveniers & food!.

Great strategy! I think I will do that! Then it won't hit so hard at one time in the checkbook! Thanks!

with DVC we have the option of 11 month at home resort and 7 month window at trading over. . .we have to have our p's and q's together!!

Before DVC, I use to book out around 10 months in advance!!

My ucoming trip with DVC was booked last July and I traded over in Oct

I would book early so I could start dreaming and planning. :cloud9:

we booked our trip for july last august....why wait, it makes you feel soooo good to know you have it done and you'll be on your way soon. :cloud9:

You should be able to book now. You just cannot book airfares and such until like 330 days out.

As for the rates going up, if you book now and the rates go up later then I dont think Disney will up your cost. You will have it locked in. However, if you make a change to the reservation (as many of us do :)) then they can and will charge the new rates.

We booked last week for Christmas week 2005. Yet, two years in a row, we booked 5 weeks before going during February vacation. Just do it!! (and have a grand time!!) :goodvibes

I book my vacation as soon as I get back from the current one.

I come home, unpack and get settled back and within the next week I choose my dates and book my room!

:teeth:
We just returned 3 weeks ago from a wonderful 5 day/4 night stay at CBR. I have already booked our reservation for January 1-8, 2006 at POFQ, paid 1 nights deposit, $166.19, bought our park passes from Ticket Mania, and even tho I cannot reserve the PS's yet, have picked the days and times so I can make them when 90 days out rolls around. And I also plan to pay $100 per month towards my reservation so that I will have as much paid for in advance as possible before we go. So go ahead and make your ressie and enjoy the rest of the planning.

Nope, they will tell you when you book that if the room rates go up your price will go up as well to reflect the change. Not trying to be a know-it-all, just had it happen to me!

Oh, they never told me that. I thought I remebered them telling me that I have locked that room rate in. I am probably wrong though. :)
