How early do they decide about skipping Castaway?

We docked at Castaway when it literally rained all day in May 2013. The ship may still dock. Not ideal but I've had a cabana as a haven from the rain before. It was awesome! Crossing my fingers for a more sunny than rainy day for you.

Actually a cabana could be a great thing to have for that forecast. If you get a period of downpour then you have shelter right there you can wait it out in. Weather forecasts in the tropics can change frequently, I'm confident it won't be too much of an issue for you.

If and this is a big if, the forecast holds, (their forecast is very similar to CFL. What we get is what the Bahamas gets in 24 to 48 hours) DCL may swap out the thurs CC stop with Weds. But that is if the forcast does exactly what it says. Ive seen this far out (were supposed to get all of that weather on Weds) that the forcast will shift to later in that day or even the next day or miss us entirely.

We leave Miami on Wednesday - in predicted rain. :/ And there are ships booked into CC Thurs, Fri, and Sat - so no bueno.

Oh well. At least I'm on vacation.

I wouldn't worry too much about weather before you're actually there. Before my cruise the weather said it was going to be 80% chance on every single island we went to. It didn't end up raining at all the entire trip. Island weather changes pretty quickly and storms pass by quickly too so if it does rain it shouldn't be for too long.

I've had a cabana in the rain. It was glorious, but then again, I enjoy the beach more when it's raining than when it's not. I guess that's why I tend to visit the Outer Banks in the Fall.

Sorry, I didn't see which day you were leaving until just now. From what I was seeing on the weather, it shouldn't be an all day rain event. Typically what we see is rain that will come thru during the course of the day, and last maybe an hour or so which is what the Bahamas should see. The 90% chance of rain depending on what weather guesser uses it, is either a 90% chance of rain for that day, or a 90% coverage. Take your pick. But from watching the radar, it looks like the front that is coming thru, is moving really slow, and unless it gets its act together and starts moving faster, it might not get there until late in the day. Its hardly moved from the spot where I looked at it last night.

Thunderstorms won't stop them from docking. High winds and turbulent seas will so unless there is a major storm brewing that would make them anticipate having difficult seas, you won't know if they can't dock until they are close to CC or are trying to dock. Having said that, I've been there when it's been raining and it typically doesn't rain all day. I've also been there when there was a forecast of rain all day and it either didn't rain all day or it was intermittent or it got nice eventually. I have had several excursions cancelled while there due to high winds (parasailing usually) so the winds have to be pretty high before they will decide not to dock.

It is tropical weather. We live in Florida and they say 100% chance of storms all the time and most of the time it never rains. There have been many cruises I have watched the weather and all bummed because of supposed rain. Out of 26 trips to Castaway, only 1 has had rain.

Hey ...weather forecast has improved for tomorrow! I think it was pretty dismal whem I checked yesterday. ...I see more clouds tham rain now!
