I rented at Epcot once when my feet were too sore to walk anymore. I didn't expect to need one, so off site wasn't an option. On my visit, I was there at opening and was the only one picking one up at that time. When I turned it in after Illuminations there were no more left. As long as you're there near park opening you'll get one. Try to arrive around 11 then maybe not.
For anyone hesitant to use a scooter for just a day or two to get through a bad stretch - do it! I had the best day at Epcot. I saw every inch of the park and didn't exhaust myself. Better still, my swollen and sore feet got the rest they needed.
another vote for off site rental for the reasons others have said. esp at MK parking even the handicapped area can be a walk plus you have to walk to monorail or the ferry and then to gate. plus while waiting for gate to open there is very little if any seating to wait.
Yes, rent offsite. The offsite ones are not as big and bulky and easier to drive. It doesn't matter if you're onsite or offsite, they will deliver to your hotel/resort (at least the place we rented from did).
Rent off site. They are better scooters. They actually move faster than 2 miles an hour. I am most tired after the park day, and walking to the bus was a killer. It was nice to have it all the way "home"
In nearly all ways, I would say rent a scooter off site. The only time I would say Rent a scooter on site is if you are taking a scooter on an off site hotel shuttle. Very few hotels are able to take scooters unless you give them 24 hour notice. If your willing to walk to a shuttle and then in the park, then rent off site. Look for an easy to take apart one if your driving to the parks.
