How does waitlist work?

i was wondering how does waitlist work, since i was on a waitlist for a boardwalk view studio for Nov.22, in December... and my daughter was put on the waitlist for a boardwalk view studio for Nov.22 , in Feb. Hers came through Friday....mine didn't.......does anyone know whats going on?

It is based on availability. Someone cancelled a reservation for your daughter's waitlist date making the reservation available. In addition, she was next on the list for that date so she got it. Once someone cancels for your waitlist date, as long as your next in line, you will get your date. Since your date is Thanksgiving, it may be more difficult for your waitlist to come through.

Did you not understand what i was saying....the nights on waitlist are the same night Nov.22....i was put on the waitlist in Dec. for that night and she was put on waitlist for that same night Nov 22....in Feb. I should have been on the waitlist ahead of her...how could her night come through before mine... i understand the next person on the list gets it when it becomes available...but i should have been on the list before her......

I think you should call MS and ask what's going on. Are you sure that night didn't already come through for you and they just didn't notify you? Several people have reported that their waitlist came through but MS never notified them -- they found out when they checked their reservation online.

If it didn't come through then you should verify that you are still on the waitlist. There have been some reports recently of strange things happening to reservations, banked points, etc. And, I would ask MS how it could happen that someone who was put on the waitlist for the exact same night three months after you were put on the waitlist ends up getting that night before you.

the guy i rented points from has been checking and calling to see if the waitlist came through, but it hadn't. when i told him about this he was upset and said he was calling tomorrow to see what was going on.
i hope he gets answers.....lol

what do you mean you hope i didn't pay in advance? that is how it is done when you rent points from someone...it is done all the time and i am very comfortable with the transaction and i have had no problems with him whatsoever. you can't rent points from someone and not pay for it before you go...no one here on the rent/trade boards does that and i wouldn't expect them to. anyway this post is about waitlist problems.

My comment was meant to be facetious. Sorry it didn't come across that way. The point that I was attempting to make is that the person that you rented from has told you that you are on a waiting list but for some reason the wait list didn't come through. Unfortunately as a renter there is no way to verify if the wait list problem was caused by the person that you rented from or MS.
