I have never understood the mindset of vandalism and looting. What does that prove? If you are trying to say someone was unjustly killed, this does NOT help your cause in any way. IMO, it actually makes it more difficult to have sympathy.

And can we wait for there to be an investigation??? I am in no way giving the police a pass, there should be an investigation, but that needs to happen before we find anyone guilty, and trashing the town does nothing.

That's productive.

The actual shooting doesn't sound cut and dry, a struggle between an officer and 2 men whether they were armed or not, why where they fighting with the cop? To the looting, I keep waiting for reports of business owners that decide to do like in the LA riots and start fighting back. This is a bad situation.

I can't see that that would help. One store owner (or even a couple) against a mob? No thanks. I'd flee too and file insurance claims later.Hopefully security cams will record these folks.

It went on all night. Film crews from news channels were filming people looting. It was nuts. People just took the opportunity to steal.

I never said it would help, but one day something like this is going to turn REALLY ugly when an ARMED owner decides to stand against the mob.

I agree, and I wouldn't blame them at all. At some point this should be stood up against, I just think it's all insane!

It doesn't help. It's just opportunistic criminals capitalizing on an incident.

I can only guess if a cop pumped 9 bullets into your unarmed child's head that you wouldn't be against these so called riots. There are MANY eyewitnesses who have the same story - the boy ran, stopped, and put his hands in the air and then executed. First the cop car had a dash cam then it didn't. Now the officer is on paid vacation. Welcome to the 1960's again, except more cities were on fire then.

This is disgusting.

It accomplishes nothing for them as they don't really have a cause. All it does for me is cement my thought that it can't be easy to be a police officer in certain areas where animals are just looking for an excuse to act out.

So if a cop kills your child, you should be FOR people looting, stealing, and vandalizing businesses? I could understand supporting protests against the police, but what part did any of those businesses have?

None at all. The only reasoning I could see(and I am NOT excusing the behavior) is that it brings more attention to the situation. I'm pretty sure the looters are not following that line of thinking though. Jenasis said it best...The are opportunists.

When people loot, they usually turn around and re-sell the stuff they stole. So, there's that.

Otherwise, there's no reason to loot and vandalize the buildings of people who had nothing to do with the incident they are mad over.

If you're going to vandalize anything, vandalize the police station. Atleast that makes sense.

The news media is reporting on this incident in a very bias manner. When people go and destroy the buildings, it just gives the "reporters" more footage to use on the news. They love violent mobs, not peaceful protests.

What is disgusting is your opinion that innocent people should be victimized, robbed and looted. These aren't "so called riots" they are riots. These are criminals that were just waiting for an opportunity not devastated friends, family and community members mourning the loss of a loved one. I would bet anything that they don't care at all for the loss of life. I cannot comment on if the shooting was justified or not. There are reports today that the young man was trying to wrestle the officers gun away from him. I also have seen nothing confirm he was shot 9 times either, just that he was shot multiple times. He was unarmed, but if he was wrestling with the officer he definitely has some responsibility for what happened. If he would have listened to the officer and got in the car instead of fighting him I would imagine it would have ended differently. If that is not what happened, I hope that the officer is prosecuted to the fullest extent and is charged with murder. Stealing and destroying property will do nothing productive.

The whole thing is awful. It isn't clear yet what happened Saturday between the 2 guys and the officer- one story is that there was a struggle, the officer was assaulted somehow and they was a struggle INSIDE? the police car? and a shot went off when they were going for the officer's gun? They ran, the officer told them to stop or he would shoot, and he shot. It is not clear either how many shots were fired or how many times the man was hit. It is sad all the way around.

Looting and burning businesses, does nothing for this man's family nor for his memory.

You're right, the looters behavior is disgusting. The businesses they were stealing from and burning had nothing to do with what happened. I wish there would have been armed owners/employees that would have stood up to them.

I have zero sympathy for criminal behavior. I hope they find every single one of them and charge them with whatever they can be charged with. They are a bunch of opportunistic cowardly scum.

My heart goes out to the family who lost a son, but rioting accomplishes nothing! Chanting "no justice no peace" when this just happened is crazy! How can there be justice when the investigation just started? It's not asking for justice, it's asking for old west vengeance where you skip the trial and go to the punishment. First find the truth, then let justice happen.

This - and if in the end the truth ends up being that the shooting was justified, be prepared to accept that as well.

The irony is that those people are just as bad as the cops who take justice into their own hands. No peace? Are they prepared to have more of their children shot down by police? You don't want to be targeted, not sure chanting no justice, no peace and looting will get that target off your back.
