How does this work?

Hi,

I am staying at ASMo in a week or so and I want to use the DVC fitness facilities while I am there. The information states that you need your DVC membership card (edit) (got it) and your current "key to the world" card with DVC member on it to gain access. So do I simply ask ASMo to have DVC member on my card? Can they do that?

I am sure that there are members out there that have stayed outside of DVC resorts at one point. How does it work to gain access?

Thanks in advance.

The fitness center use is free for DVC members staying on points- thus the reason to need the blue membership card and the room id marked "DVC Member". It's not likely that ASMo will be able to assist although moderate and deluxe resorts where DVC members may use points do designate "DVC Member" on the room key for members using points at that resort.

You may find that you will need to pay a fee to use the facility.

Thanks. That's too bad. I just thought as a DVC member I would be able to use DVC facilities. Disappointing.

Thanks for the advice but as a DVC member I would never pay to use DVC facilities. I'd rather go without than pay. AAgggh...frustrating.

I know that you are just trying to help though so ignore me. Thanks for the information Doc. I appreciate it.

I think the reason for this is that anyone who is a member could use the facilities even if they weren't staying at WDW, even people who live in the area could use SSR Spa as their personal health club without paying anything extra. It could make some of the facilities crowded for the guests staying on points at WDW. We already know how crowded Stormalong Bay gets with non-guests swimming there.

What was nice to know was that if I use my points for the Disney Collection (we used points at the Contemporary in August), my KTTW will say Member (which it did).

Just keep thinking about the time when you will be able to stay at the CR-DVC.

But then again there can't be too many of us DVC members staying at the All Stars. But thank you for helping me understand. You guys make a lot of sense. I can see how it could be abused.

Oh well..... I'll have to do laps around the All Stars. :cheer2: ummm not.

John....that made me laugh hard. That was a good one.

Thanks everyone.

Technically you must be staying at a DVC resort on points to qualify for many of these benefits including Pool Hopping. Many timeshares extend day use benefits to members year round but given the situation at DVC, I'd think it impossible to do so.

Thanks Dean. Makes sense.

Okay,

I missed the member cruise logo. An elephant sitting right there in front of me. Oh boy. How exciting. I still think your line was funny even though it was "no joke". It made me smile.....broadly. Nothing like the mention of DVC/CR to calm my fitness facility ranting.

And I promised only 150 points. Oh boy. I smell big trouble. :rotfl:

I wanted clarification about this, too...so basically, if I am staying at OKW on points as a DVC member (and I am), I can "spa hop" without charge (obviously i know i'd have to pay for any spa services like manicures, massages, etc., but could i use the facilities (steam room, sauna, pools, etc) at SSR and GF on a complimentary basis?). How about guests staying with me ? We leave on Thursday...yippee!
