How does this sound for a vacation? Suggestions?

DS (20) is WDW'ed out. Loves Universal. His mother (me) and father are appalled. All those years of WDW indoctrination and he loves Universal. The nerve! Well, we still have passes that are good to Universal until Aug 5th. So we're going down June 18 and staying at Universal 1 or two nights to use the passes and get front of the line. From there we are going to Naples to enjoy the beach and just relax - this will be 4 or 5 nights. Then I started thinking -how about staying at WDW for 2 nights? We'll do our favorite resort - the WL - for two nights on the way home. The first night we'll just enjoy the resort and watch the EWP from the WL beach. The next morning (Saturday) we'll get up early and hit the MK (DS's favorite park). That's the only park we'll do so as not to stretch ourselves too thin - no one in my family has seen Wishes except for me. On Sunday we'll get up and drive the rest of the way home. How does this plan sound to all you vacation planners? I have a total of eight nights to divide among US, Naples, and WDW. DS thinks he's a little burned out on theme parks, hence the days for laying back and relaxing at the beach. Any suggestions? I'm thinking I should try for AAA rate 2 nights at WL and then just a one day park ticket just to MK.

I think that sounds like a fantastic idea, but can't believe that he *doesn't* want to go to WDW. :confused3

I think once I get him to WDW, he'll realize he DOES want to be at WDW!!

Hiya! Your holiday plans sound good to me!

Just an observation though.... I see your trip starts on June 18th - a Saturday. I think, in general, Universal hotels are more expensive on Fri, Sat and Sunday so it might be an idea to check rates for various days of your stay and see what you come up with. That might not be the case always - it's just something I observed when I was playing around with dates because we're taking one or two nights out to spend at Hard Rock Hotel and mid-week is cheaper.

Also, are you flying or driving? If you are flying and go straight to WDW you could avail of Magical Express (and if you leave from WDW you could do it on the return trip too). So could you do one night in WDW at the start and one night at the end and, therefore, use Magical Express both times? Of course that's a lot of extra hassle checking in and out again. Still, what a great saving, not having to pay for a shuttle!

Have a great trip! :)
