How does this plan look? And a Park Hopper Question...

I threw this idea out to my husband and he couldn't understand why anyone would leave the park and come back to be there when it's dark...hahaha....so we will see how this all plays out :-).
Gosh, there's so much at DLR that's wonderful to see at night! The whole Radiator Springs area, for example, from the moment at sunset when they turn on the lights along Route 66 to riding RS Racers at night. Over in DL, the Millennium Falcon is beautiful with its night lighting. And then of course there are the nighttime shows: Fantasmic, World of Color, and the fireworks (including the new music in Galaxy's Edge). At Christmastime, there are amazing lights all over the Small World building. You definitely need to get back to the parks after dark!

Where are you staying?
We are staying at Desert Palms
Thoughts on nighttime entertainment? If you don't care about Fantasmic, fireworks or WOC, you might plan on doing Fantasyland after the 9:30 fireworks.
Not worried about seeing Fantasmic, but I'd really like to see the Fireworks from GE. Going to try to do that on our first full day, Friday.

I know!! He just doesn't know anything at this point. I'm the planner and he's along for the ride so I'll make it happen :-)

If there is a parade running at DL Fantasyland has much shorter lines during the parade. We waited less than 15 minutes for Peter Pan on July 21st during the parade. And then we met 4 princesses with a 20 minute wait!
This is true and great advice. There will not be a parade running at DL in October when the OP is visiting.

Parts of Fantasyland are closed during the fireworks and there is a path from SWGE to Fantasyland.

In the map below, you'll see three places where you can watch SWGE fireworks. Obviously the most popular (and the most crowded) is in front of the Millennium Falcon (red star). The second best view is from the region with the blue star. I think the teal star would be my third choice. Notice the two exits and pathways to get from SWGE to Fantasyland. When you hit forks in the walkway, keep to your left. If you go to the right, it will take you to Frontierland.
