I really want to have one for DD2 done.

Does it get crowded? How long does it take? Will they keep it at the shop until you leave the park so it doesn't get messed up? When is the best time to go? About how much does it cost?

I haven't a clue on anything about it, but I've seen them before and I must have one!!! :)

Thanks!

It is wonderful and the best souvenier you can get. When we went it wasn't busy, but even if it appears busy (and it's a tiny shop so that could certainly happen quickly) each person doesn't take long and it is so worth it. We had several squirmy kids and it was no problem. For a little kid, like yours, they will have you sit with the child on your lap. There is a picture to look at directly in front of the child. The artist only needs seconds to get the shape down. It is fascinating to watch. You actually get two pictures for the price of one. When the artist cuts she is cutting two pieces of paper, so you get mirror images. Then a second CM will glue and mount it to the paper which has an oval design for the picture to fit in. You can buy a frame there also. The silhouette costs only 7 or 8 dollars. I think they slip it in something firm so it won't get wrinkled..we carried ours around all day with no problem. IMO if you ave little kids it is not to be missed.
I'm wondering if you can find a video of this on YouTube..I'd be surprised if you couldn't

Another thing to know:

When my DH and I were there on our honeymoon, we got them done. We were wearing our just married buttons and the artist offered to do a bride and groom version for us. We were very surprised and it took us a minute to react (we don't do well when something you expect gets changed ;)).

We agreed, and it turned out so cute! I'm wearing a veil and a heart shaped necklace, and DH is clearly wearing a tux. We love it and have it hanging in our bedroom.

I hope this is still available, since this was back in September of 2007 and the CM/Artist said she was the only one who did them.

thanks for the info. I have been wanting to do this for years and never had a chance. It's either not enough time, "oh mom, that's soo dumb" or the like. This year I accept no excuses!!! Mommy has spoken and she wants her silhouette!!!!

This is one of my favorite things to do. Sylvia is always the one that has been working when we are there, and she is just great! She has been there for something like 30 + years and as previous posters have said, it takes like 30 seconds! It's amazing. Definitley make time to do it! :thumbsup2

Also, we had her start signing the silhouettes and dating them with the year. My plan is to get one every year of my girls.

Where is the shop and what is it called?

Is the pricing per person or per paper?

As you enter the park it's on Main Street on the right hand side. Maybe someone else can help witht the pricing question...

It's per person cost. We went during a parade. And I just realized I don't know where they are!!! This post reminded me we had them done!

We get these done from time to time. They cost 7-8 bucks and the frame is an additional cost, but it's not much. It only takes her minutes to complete one. They'll even hold it for you all day and you can pick it up before you leave the park for the night. They do take breaks so sometimes you have to come back. I'm sure their hands get really tired.

One of the best souviners and I think one of the best for the value. I had my first one done when I was 14 years old and again when I turned 42. After talking to the woman, we figured out that she had to be the same person who did my first one as well. We ended up staying there and chatting with her for about an hour since she wasn't busy. Wonderful woman. I think they now have 3 people total who do this work.

I would love to have this done when we go there in 10 days, anybody knows the name of the place??? TIA :goodvibes

EDIT: Never mind, I found the name and some info in the Disneyland site, thanks any way!

We did one of the girls, by far my favorite souvie. :) We have it framed and matted and in the matting around the girls photo are the silhouette pins with the characters, it looks sooooooooo good!!!! One of these days we want to take in pics of the dogs and have them do doggie silhouettes, they told us they would do if we took in photos. :) I want to do one this year with all 4 of us, or with DBF and I on one side and the girls on the other, I just can't decide which one to do. :)

super-fast, good bargain.

If you have more than one person there is an incremental cost. If you want to put in a character with the subject it's that same incremental cost.

Buy the frame!!! It's a really good price, and you're not going to find a nice, properly-sized oval frame for the same price elsewhere. So buy it. :)

It's on the right side of Main Street, tiny little shop.

You can even bring in a picture (profile pic) and they'll do one for you.

The picture for antsy kids to look at is a collage of stickers, if I recall correctly, and as they cut the paper they are talking with your child, asking who their fave character is, etc. It's not something you have to sit absolutely still for, they are really amazing.

And I saw all this despite the fact that the silhouette of DS doesn't look like DS! Looks like Christopher Robin instead. So I was disappointed in the actual rendering of DS's profile (though they got the shape of the back of his head correct), but we still think it's a good deal, a good souvenir, and something we will absolutely do again (and we'll be getting the frames next time, too).

Those ladies are amazing there. My bf and I got ours done recently, and we were 22 at that time, I think :).

Pixiewings71, how did you display your pins with the picture? Did you use the frame they sell or a different one? We want to do that, too, but I'm not sure how exactly to do it. Anyway you could post a picture?

We get them everytime we go I have years of my kids on the wall :)
They are 9$ per person/silhouette and 10$ for the frame you get an AP discount on the frame but not original artwork.
For sure buy the frame it is soooo worth it, you won't be able to find a comparable one for the price.
They will hold them in the shop till you are ready to leave too. We had 5 done last time all framed and they kept them till we were done at DL.
All my infant/baby ones have minnie or mickey silhouettes with them. So cute! :thumbsup2
