How does the Shareholder thing work?

#

I just withdrew the balance out of my halifax account and transferred it back to my current account, I don't think they can close the account on you.

Thanks for that, I couldn't see any option to transfer the balance but I will look again.

Thanks again, looked again and found it this time under "Account Management".

Unbelievably I have just had an email confirming my membership to the Shareholders Club!!! I posted the paperwork on Friday 18th June so was not expecting anything nearly so soon - big thumbs up to them!!

It all went really smoothly in the end and this is my timeline in case it helps anyone:-

8th June - Applied for Halifax Share Dealing Account
14th June - All paperwork received from Halifax and account now ready to use
17th June - Bought shares and applied online to Shareholders Club
18th June - Posted application form and printed contract note (from website)
21st June - Received email from Shareholders Club to confirm membership

So pleased it is all sorted without problem and looking forward to receiving my membership card.

Thank you each and everyone for all the help and advice on this thread - couldn't have done it without you!!

Welcome to the club :cool1: I bet you can't wait for that gold card to drop onto your door mat.

It's a great experiance the first time you use it to enter Salon Mickey, and goodness knows how much we have saved in the Disney Store's in the UK since we became members.

Just a quick question - my expiry date is 02/11. I am assuming that it will be valid throughout Feb or am I wrong and it is valid up until Feb? There is no day on at all.

Thanks :)

Woohoo, I'm in! Just received my confirmation e-mail just a few hours after submitting the info by e-mail.

If it helps, for those in the US, the stock is over-the-counter using symbol EUDSF. I sent my ETrade trade confirmation that they give online (don't forget to block out your account number) and that was fine.

As to the mystery question of what type of shareholder you are, if you let the broker keep the shares (didn't insist on having paper shares mailed to you because they're pretty) you are a "bearer,"another name for shares held in street name.

Now the agonizing wait for the card to arrive.popcorn::I have until mid-September so I'm optimistic.

I have no knowledge when it comes to finanicial jargon etc.
Can I go into branch and start the process.
And does most banks do it or is it just halifax

I have just come home from a horrible day at work to find my membership card waiting for me :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

must get on with booking my trip now!

Emanlu so very pleased for you.

:dance3: Just got in from work too and so very pleased my shareholders card has arrived.:dance3:

Can hardly wait to use it now.

Where is this room that everyone talks about that is quiet and do we all have to be members?

Also are you only admitted once a day?

Thanks

Well inbetween when I signed up for a share holder account with Halifax and today I've been to Florida :D but my top priority on coming home was getting my shares sorted and now I've made the call to purchase the shares all I have to do is wait now for it all to come through then get the paperwork off to Disney I've purchased 21 shares I'm hoping its right in that will mean I can be a member of the club without having to pay the fees?

Glad to see you've got your priorities right :rotfl: yes, having 20+ shares means your membership fee will be waived.

Congratulations to you both!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Salon Mickey is to the right of the ticket booths, it's the door just to the left of the Bag/Luggage Storage facility. You are entitled to enter five times in a month. I'm not sure whether they would admit you more than once on the same morning but to be honest IMO I don't think anyone would want to go twice ..... sometimes it's very busy and you can't get a seat (I have seen them turning people away before) and, although it's a lovely place to stop for a refreshment stop, it's not somewhere I would need to go every day of my holiday, even on a nine day trip I think we only popped in there three or four times.

ETA: One member can take in three guests (friends) unless they are immediate family ie. spouse, children, parents in which case they can take in four.

I always carry a copy of the rules with me as a couple of times I have been stopped and told we can't all go in (me, DH and 3 DDs) but on showing the CM the rules they hadn't realised it was four guests if they are family members, probably been a CM who doesn't normally work there just filling in.

Here's a list of the rules.

I've just noticed that it says it is only supposed to be one visit per day but if you do manage to sneak in more than one visit :rotfl: it will be counted as part of your monthly 5 visits.

Thanks for the reply.
Just a thought about Salon Mickey, Hubby gets very tired and on the the thusday and friday he will be getting desperate for dialysis so good to know about places he can possibly sit and rest.
Would he be allowed in with me or would he also have to be a member?

Sorry, I was just adding a load more waffle to my post! :rotfl:

He'll be able to go in with you as your guest. :thumbsup2

The postman delivered my DD's card today!! She is now one very happy bunny! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Yay! My card has arrived too! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Congratulations your DD must be very excited:yay:

Do you have to be over 18 to hold shares/shareholders membership/enter salon mickey? My DD is 14 and this would make an excellent birthday present.
