how does the security protect us from terrorist ?

I dont really have an answer except that there is tons of security at DL. A lot of them are dressed as tourists. Just hanging out, milling around. Making sure its all mellow. I have NEVER seen a fight or scuffle or anything at DL. As far as a terrorist plot, DL is never unattended. After we leave, there are hundreds of people there as CM'S putting the shine on it all in the night. I don't think that there would ever be a time that someone would be alone to plan high jinx.
That is my .2 c.

I agree with CorpseBride...

I know there are a lot of undercover security (OT: What a cool job, huh? Hang out at Disneyland all day and get paid) just because I've *heard*, but I've never seen them (I guess that's the point, huh?). But I'm in my own little world when I'm there, so even when I do people watch, I don't notice....

I don't know if DLR ever had a *real* scare that would make them implement more security such as metal dectectors or anything. I heard there was one after/near 9/11. But I don't know if that was true...

They are not there to protect us from terrorists. They are there to protect their cash flow from Big Macs and Sausage McMuffins. ;)

OT too, oh yeah that would be so fun! I think... yeah it would be fun:rotfl: I just wouldnt want to hang out in front of the Tiki Room. That song kind of drives me crazy.:lmao:

Disneyland actually has an Anaheim Police sub-station under DTD. They park their squad cars under/behind Tortilla Jo's. On top of that, add the bag check areas and the undercover and not-so undercover security inside the parks, plus all of the visible security guards in the entry plaza and you have a pretty tight ship. Remember that all dark rides have infrared cameras, too - especially HM and PoTC, so behave yourself! :lmao:

Luckily most visitors are not looking to perpetrate unlawful behavior and for the few that presumably do there are many security measures, some obvious and some conceiled to prevent and deter. Also, bad actions would be frowned upon by other visitors and would be reported and challenged by those present and this also deters these situations as it is almost impossible to be out of sight of someone unless in a bathroom stall.

I haven't seen anything too bad in over 30 years of visits outside of a couple shoving matches and words from intoxicated guests but no doubt the Anaheim PD has it's share of action and incidents at DLR.

There are tons of hidden cameras all around Disneyland Resort for security purposes. Also, note that id say 60-80% of the workforce at Disneyland per day has a way of contacting security and/or call local office to report.

all custodial CM all have radios so they do kinda look out for things as well as other CMs.

You must be really worried about terrorist attacks because I noticed that you have asked the same question over on the WDW and DCL boards. When I'm on vacation (especially at a Disney location) I don't want to even think about that type of situation, and I understand that if anything were to happen, it would be out of my control. :guilty:

However, when we visited DL for the first time this past May, we only saw one "incident" - and I use that term loosely. :upsidedow

We had been having dinner at House of Blues at DTD and there was a concert upstairs with lots of teens in attendance. When we got outside after dinner, there was a young guy being approached by Anaheim Police officers. Going by what the other teens hanging around were saying, it seemed that an arguement had gotten blown out of proportion and a punch or two had been thrown. :headache: Those police officers, while not being overly agressive, easily got the young man to lie face down on the ground so they could cuff him and ensure everyone in the area was kept safe. Was I upset or frightened? No - and we had our DD6 with us - even she just said "Oh-oh, that boy must have been being naughty." Many passersby did not even realise that an arrest was taking place, everything was done efficiently, smoothly and with complete control. :thumbsup2

Wait a minute. She asked this same question on the DCL board. Was it asked on the WDW board as well? Curious. :confused3

Let's just hope "old lady" isn't asking because she wants to plan an attack or something.

We saw one of the undercover guys on one of our last trips. He was wearing touristy clothes (shorts and some sort of college sweatshirt...not sure what school it was though.) He had on sunglasses and a baseball cap. We were sitting eating breakfast and we saw him sitting on a bench and then standing and kind of wandering nearby. He had an earpiece in and that's how we noticed him.

If they didnt check people's backpacks it would be awfully easy to sneak in explosives. I imagine DL would be a prime target...lots of people in small areas, including lots of women and children. Plus, its an emotionally charged place...can you imagine how it would wreck the magic if a terrorist attack did happen there?!

I'm not particularly worried about it, but if having security go through my bags helps, even a little...why not do it?

i have wondered this my self. i am very parinoied about anything happening any where i go mall movies even across the street.
I know dl is safe tho and like i said when we though we might move close. id be able to go with or with out dh and fill safe.

I don't know about anyone else, but my daughter and I have both said on several occasions that we pitty the dumb terrorist that choses Disneyland to do their dirty work as it would totally piss us off.

You posted exactly what I was thinking!:worship: ;)

^ my thoughts exactly.

Disneyland has endless security measures in place. Rest assured that you will never know all of them. If they were to make that known, someone could work around them.

oldlady, addressing your question as an innocent tourist question, I guess you just have to trust that anywhere you go takes steps to make you safe.

Do you worry about going to the movies?
or dinner?
or the mall?

We just have to trust in today's world that those who can keep us safe, are doing so the best they can.

Hmmmmmmmmm interesting that this question has been posed on 3 different forums. Old Lady, who are you and why do you want to know?
