How does the reservation request ...

form work on the members site? IS this just to check for availability or does this secure a reservation? If I filled this out tonight could I call Monday morning? I am really confused about this. Thanks for any clarificaiton.

More than likely it is equivalent to sending an e-mail reservaton request. MS will try to book the dates for you if they are area available for your chosen resort and room type when they check the email. Email requests usually take a few days to process, you will then recaive a return email with the confirmation number for your vacation. If there is a problem with your requested dates, they will contact you via email, as well.

If I am booking a stay for a non-busy time and well within my 11-monh window, email is fine, otherwise I call.

Eventually, they are planning to take on-line reservations into real-time...but until they get online account management, it isn't practical, since borrowing or banking may be required.

I agree with Chuck S. On the old web site, when you sent in a request, they would actually secure a reservation if your criteria could be met. I'm sure that's still the case with the new site.

Unless you're booking on less than 30 days' notice, or have to borrow points for the ressie, it really isn't an irreversible transaction. Even if you made a mistake in the submission form, you could always write back or call and cancel. All of the points go back into your account.

Just be careful when it comes to borrowing. Once you borrow points, they are moved to the new Use Year and CANNOT be moved back. That's why they have an extra check-box on the web site for you to acknowledge the implications of borrowing points. If there is any chance that your reservation request would involve borrowing, in my opinion it would be much safer to call and handle the reservation over the phone. The last thing you need is to find out that you accidentally selected "Two-Bedroom" instead of "One-Bedroom" and subsequently had a large number of points borrowed from the next Use Year.
