How does the dining rotation work?

I've never cruised before and I was wondering how the dining rotation worked?

it says they rotate you each night so you can experience each restaurant. So is this just for dinner or is it all three meals?

Rotation dining is just for dinner. When you board you will see your dining rotation on your Key To The World Card. It will be something like LAPLAPA (the start letter may vary) where

L = Lumieres
A= Animator's Palate
P = Parrot Cay.

You follow that rotation for your cruise. Your servers and tablemates move with you.

If you are on the 3 or 4 day, you will see T instead of L (for Triton's the equivalent restaurant on the Wonder)

Breakfast is served either as a buffet at Topsiders and Parrot Cay or a sit down at Lumieres. You don't need to go at a set time.

Breakfast on your last morning will be at the same restaurant where you ate the night before and this is the one time you will have a set time for breakfast. You can also eat at Topsiders if you prefer that day - buffet style.

Lunch is also a buffet at Topsiders or Parrot Cay (different theme each day) or sit down at Lumieres. Or you can avail yourself of the fast food options on Deck 9 instead (or as well as!). Again you can go anytime while lunch is being served.

Hope this helps.

Just for dinner. When you check in at the terminal you will all recieve KTTW (Key To The World) cards. On the card lists your dining rotation.

If you are sailing on the Magic there are one of three possibilites - APL PLA or LAP. APL means you start at Animator's Palette, second night is Parrot Cay, and third is Lumieres. You can figure out the other two abbreviations for rotation.

If you are on the Wonder substitute Tritons for Lumieres.

Breakfast and lunch is what you want it to be based on availability. Room service is always an option, table service for breakfast and lunch is usually an option at Lumieres or Tritons, buffet style at Topsiders and sometimes Parrot Cay and don't forget about the character breakfast at Parrot Cay.

I'll just add that it's much simpler than it sounds. If you get the first night correct, the servers will tell you where they'll see you the next night.

Ahh...

that sounds simple enough. Now it would be a 3 day cruise so triton's instead of lumiere's. Now what is the restaurant Paolo's that everyone raves about and is it available of the 3 day cruise?

Instead of your nightly rotation, you can book at Palo's which is for adults only. So, if you are on the 3 night cruise, you would need to skip one of the three and replace it with Palo's.

Although, some people have double dipped (say if they had 8:30 dining, booked at Palo at 6:00 and still went to the rotational dining at 8:30).
