Never went to HHN. Going 1st time - wondering what it will be like.

What are scare zones and where are they?

What characters (from movies?) try to scare you and How?

How close do they get to you??

Does any character have a chainsaw and is it real?

I think it starts at 7pm, should we return from dinner earlier than 7pm for any reason?

 Thank you!!!!!!

Scare zones are dark foggy areas where scareactors hide and jump out at you. sometimes they camoflauge (sp?) themselves to look like part of the scenery. I have seen scare zones used before where they used strobe lights creating a blinding affect with clowns waiting for you to walk by. walking around at HHN's you will encounter the scare zones along the walkways. pretty hard to avoid them :D

There are different characters just about every year. they are in houses and they walk around outside. they mostly just walk up to you. the chainsaw guys will sometimes chase you a little bit. last year I saw alot of oarks, a couple of years back, I saw lots of movie characters like chucky, jason, etc.. one year there were alot of evil clowns.

They can't touch you, but can get almost right in your face sometimes.

You will see the chainsaw guys ahead of time. to me, they all look the same. the chainsaws look real, but of course they don't have blades. they are loud, and blow warm air. they will get kinda close to your legs with these. I have noticed that if you just smile at them they will leave you alone. they want to see you terrified and will really go after the ones who act scared (scream, run etc.)

I would try and remain in the park if you can. (stay and scream area) because it takes awhile to get back in with security and long lines. security is extra tight on HHN's meaning it takes longer to check everybody. last year we had to empty our pockets and go through metal detectors too along with the bag search. There wasn't fog all over the parks last night. I don't know if that is permament or just first night "not quite ready" problems.

No fog? well if it's permanent, my DD should be glad because she wears contacts and it sometimes bothers her eyes.
I said I wasn't going to look but I had to look at hhnvaults. the corn feild looks interesting. I think I'm going to get DD to post a picture of our collection of HHN stuff. between the two of us, we have a pretty good collection going on.

does anyone know if the Monster cafe was open last night?

Actually, I think they have leaf blowers too, not just chainsaws without the blades

leaf blowers? well, lets just hope they don't bring out the lawn mowers too. lol :p

Forget 7pm! The gates offically open at 6:30pm. But Stay and Scream is a great option.

Phamton- there was tons of fog last night in certain parts of the park. At times, I couldn't see where I was going.

EXCELLENT INFORMATION! THANK YOU!!!! :worship:

so now i no to try to ACT NOT scared!

So when and where do you suggest we eat dinner if we don't want to get there
too late and stuck in a line??

(We will be at universal studios at 9am and be there all day.)

p.s. checked out hhnvault.com and looked at photos. I see how things are
divided, like field of screams, horror wax - my question is: are these
basically "houses" or "rooms" you enter and look at stuff? I don't think i quite understand

If you will be at USF at 9am, I don't think it would be too busy, so you can either leave in the early afternoon and eat at CityWalk, or stay in the park and eat at one of the available dining places for stay and Scream.

As for the houses, you walk through the entrance and then walk through a series of rooms and hallways where scareactors will pop out to scare you. You don't really stop and look at things, you just walk straight through the series of hallways and rooms. It really is tons of fun.

Here is my list of houses this year, from my favorite to my least favorite.
1- Ghost Town
2- Castle Vampyr
3- Deadtropolis
4- Horrors in Wax
5- Hellgate Prison
6- Horror Night Nightmares
7- Disorientorium

If youm want to start the night in a mild fashion in a not-s--scary house, try Disorientorium (the scariest thing about it is trying to say the name)

Can you describe in detail what happens when you walk in one of these places??

also, can u recommend a place to eat and take a break for dinner??

That's difficult since every one is different, all with different themes layouts and scareactors.

Go to www.halloweenhorrornights.com and the site will give you a good idea of what's going on. Don't forget to click on the barbed circle for even more information about each individual house and scarezone... And click on the virtual tour.

To answer a few questions...
Many of the haunted houses take place in US soundstages, and you basically walk through mazelike hallways within a line of other people. The scareactors in the park will actually come right up next to your face, especially if you don't see them coming (distracted by reading a park map for instance).

Thanks, Slacking. I wasn't there last night and my husband was complaining about the lack of fog compared to last year. He must have not been in the right place to see the fog, either that or he was having a little too much to drink and his mind was in a fog. ;)

I am so nervous they are going to single me out. I am so afraid of haunted house. I don't know why i agreed to this? I have a bad knee. I had surgery a couple of months ago. I am afraid they are going to make me run. How can i prevent this? I am going to wear my knee brace, does anyone else have any suggestions?

They can't make you run. They can try, but since they can't actually touch you, the only person who could make you run is yourself. So, if you can resist the urge to flee from the chainsaw inches from your body... :p

Yeah - I'm scared too!!!! :scared:

After looking at the photos in the vault you mentioned before, I was like,
'uh oh" :faint:

Does Jason or Michael Meyers come up to you? I need to know that.

Also, how would one ACT scared when you want to *@&% in your pants?:scratchin:

Are there groups that can walk together?

So you mean that these chainsaw people are on ALL the streets? and
they bother you as you are trying to get to the Rides??

Also, what rides are OPEN during HHN?? Back to the Future? Spiderman?

Also, do we HAVE to walk thru the dark cornfield to get to Islands of Adventure?
That's what the lady at Universal said when i ordered my HHN tickets.:faint:

Details...please!
