How does the biometric finger scanners work?

I know that whenever you enter the Magic Kingdom, Epoct, Disney MGM Studios & Animal Kingdom you need to put your finger in the biometric finger scanners, so if your using that ticket for the 1st time no one else can use it. Anyway I was just wondering how does this system know the ticket your using belongs to you, once you go threw the 2nd time at another park? I am sure if you remember which ticket belongs to you then there should be no problems, however I am just intrested to find out what technoloigy is used to match your finger to your ticket?

The first time a ticket is used,several measurements of the finger are taken and are "tagged" to the information contained on the magnetic stripe on the ticket.The finger measurement data is stored on a central computer.When the ticket is used again,the magnetic stripe is read and the computer checks the current finger measurements against the original finger measurements to see if they are a match.

i told the kids it cuts the tip of your finger off and checks the dna the when you come back you can have it back.....they didnt believe me

I was just there, and all it did was scan my fingers. Someone in back of me though, accidentally used the wron finger, and got pulled over, and the security people finally figured out the reason after about 5 minutes!
