How does Splash Mountain look now?

Another thread confirmed that Splash Mountain is open after the month-long refurb. I was skeptical about the refurb because the last time I rode the problems with the ride were so awful that I thought it would take much longer than a month to fix them.

So everyone who has actually seen it this week: how does it look? Are there still figures that are not moving? Are there still audio problems? Are there still show scenes with the lights turned out so we cannot see how broken they are?

I thought it looked really good. All the figures I saw were moving. I feel like there was one dark area, but someone who goes more often could say better. The only thing I noticed as needing attention is the exterior rock/plaster. There were holes here and there that I noticed when at a standstill in the boat.

On the whole I thought it looked great and vibrant!

Was on it yesterday (!!) It looked fine....all the animatronics were working as far as I could tell. A few dark areas, but there was nothing in them.....maybe something in the long ago past was there, or not. Plenty to see throughout the ride. No audio problems and I did not notice the exterior holes pp posted about!
Great ride......had lots of fun!!

We were in the third or so log when it reopened on Friday morning. I might be totally off, but I still felt like the ride was missing something. I saw a few animatronics not working - I specifically remember an owl with eyes that were stuck in a half closed position. One section seemed pretty dark/dimly lit to the point where I was scratching my head. I don't know, maybe that is just the way it is - someone with more frequent visits to DL would know better than I. But DH had the same thought I did.

From what I've heard from cast members, it wasn't really a SM refurb; it was closed in conjunction with construction needs for Star Wars land. I think I've seen that mentioned here; they didn't even drain it.

I'm sure they took advantage of it being down to do some work, but the point wasn't to refurb it, so I'm doubtful they fixed everything.

Well, that is a disappointment. It's a shame that Disney considers the condition of that attraction to be acceptable, and has kept it that way for such a long time. Such a shame.

I rode it in the dark, so take that into consideration. I didn't notice anything not working or in bad shape.

The last time I rode (almost a year ago) the things I remember most clearly were that the scene with the bear caught in the rope had no sound at all, and the scene with the alligator biting the fox's tail was completely dark so you could not see or hear anything. Lots of other broken effects, too. The whole thing seemed more like a version of the ride you would see in a bad dream, or like a spooky abandoned theme park.

Those scenes were working fine this last weekend. I don't recall them not working in the past year or so.....if they weren't it may have been a temporary thing or fixed in last winter's rehab.????

Only thing I noticed beyond the previously mentioned rockwork issues (and dripping water) was the hound in the spinning rowboat wasn't lit. I could see it OK-ish at night having not come from the bright outside, but in the day, it was terrible.

That would be really stupid, but right in line with what Disneyland's been doing lately. I was hoping that this refurb would replace the normal winter refurb, since we're going the first few days of March. But why shut it down for a month, a very warm month, and not do much? I guess I'll find out next Monday if it looks better or not.

I was on Splash Mountain on Friday and everything was working just fine. No problems with animatronics that I could see.

Were you able to see the hound in the spinning rowboat just before the lift hill?

I also seem to recall that the donkey or whatever just across from hanging Brer Bear was dark when I last rode it, but it sounds like that is lit up again?

We went Saturday and every animatronic I saw was working! The ride looked excellent to me! I hadn't been on it in a couple years and the last time I went on the ride it was in sad shape, heck the dunking bear wasn't even working that trip! This was SO much improved, I was very happy as it's one of my favorites. It's not quite complete feeling as the train track is behind curtains but all the rest of it looked great to me.

I wasn't looking for specific things on the ride. To be honest, when I was at DL last Friday, I wasn't even aware that Splash Mountain had been off line at all for refurb. I was just thrilled to be able to go on it in the single rider line and I was happy to be on the ride in the first place. I didn't video-record the attraction while I was on it, so I have no idea whether specific animatronics were lit up, spinning, etc. Last October (Oct 2015) when my family went to DL, at the time I noticed that a fair amount of the animatronics seemed to be stationary and not doing anything. This time around, I didn't notice any of that...but I wasn't specifically looking for it. I thought the ride was great and it was much better than October 2015. My head was kind of in another place that day, though, because it was a memorial trip to DL to remember a DL-loving friend whose funeral I went to the day before.

We rode Splash about 10 times on our trip the week before Thanksgiving. Like I've said, it's our favorite. Anyway, I thought the attraction looked fantastic with the exception of one area near where you first take off. It's just around the first bend from the launch and it had orange netting. But everything else looked clean, the lighting was working like it should, all the animatronics were working (even the googly eyed frogs), and the old screen that would never show the right picture of your splash-down was removed. It was the best I've ever seen the DL version of Splash Mt. Animatronics that I though were just still props were moving this time around. I was very please. Hoping it's still open when we hit late Feb/early March.

Thanks for the update! We will be arriving at DLR in three days so we will be checking out the ride for ourselves. Glad to hear we can expect good things.

Us too! tho I'm sad it's going to be on the chilly side. I guess upper 60's isn't that cold, but I don't want to get wet and not dry very well if it's not hot and sunny...

I'll power through the cold and ride this as many times as my middle daughter will be up for it. Last trip she did single rider 6 or 7 times in a row. LOL
