How Does Single Rider work?

Hi,

My fiance and two children won't ride some of the bigger rides like ToT, RRC or EE but are more than happy to wait for me whilst I ride them.

How does single rider work? Is it a better option than a fastpass?

I obviously do not want to be away from my family longer than necessary and if it comes to too long a wait, I will not ride. I have been before and ridden many times but it would be a shame not to after going all that way and not knowing when I will get back to WDW.

Any tips please?

Only 3 rides have Single Rider. Expedition Everest, Test Track and Rock n Roller Coaster.

Basically, you stand in the SR line and wait to be seated in an open seat on the ride.

Not much to it.

It's limited to a few rides, but YES it's worth it for the situation you describe. You basically wait in a separate line & every time there's an empty seat they call a SR forward to fill the space. Line typically moves much faster than FP & that way you don't have to hold separate FP's than the rest of your group. (since you are limited to pretty much 1 FP at a time - so you could all get FP for Soarin, but you could still ride Test Track using SR while they waited & then ALL ride Soarin together when your FP window opens up.)

Also your group could pass through the regular line with you (for some attractions this is an attraction in itself) and then decline to ride while you board the vehicle. We call it the "chicken exit" but the CM's will know what to do when you say, "We're not riding."

I do single rider on RnR and EE every time because my husband and kids don't ride them. Typically it takes me about 15-20 min tops. It usually moves pretty fast. My husband and kids usually use that time to get a snack and a drink.

The single rider line seems to get longer later in the day, especially once fastpasses are gone for those rides.

Tower of Terror doesn't have single rider so you will have to use fastpass on that one.

Generally the single rider line is faster than the FP ride. However, the Test Track SR line can move very slowly...so for that one the FP might be the same or faster. It probably depends on the time of year and crowd levels. Also you cannot request where you sit when you're in the SR line.

I'll disagree about the TT singles line being slow,RnRc has the slowest singles line.I've ridden TT in the singles line hundreds of times before the ride was updated and 6-7 times since and of course there have been times the line has gotten pretty long and I may opt out of even riding it but for the most part it's a fast line.Since the change with more people wanting to ride it it's possible the waits may get longer at times but I haven't had problems with it.RnRc is usually the worst with Everest being pretty efficient.

Thanks to my inability to ride MS and my love for TT, SR helped me ride TT eleven times in one day. About four were with my family, the rest by myself.

Guess I will not get so many rides in. Oh well.

I'll disagree about the TT singles line being slow,RnRc has the slowest singles line.I've ridden TT in the singles line hundreds of times before the ride was updated and 6-7 times since and of course there have been times the line has gotten pretty long and I may opt out of even riding it but for the most part it's a fast line.Since the change with more people wanting to ride it it's possible the waits may get longer at times but I haven't had problems with it.RnRc is usually the worst with Everest being pretty efficient.

It probably largely depends on when you're going. I was there in early March, late-morning. The posted standby time was 60 minutes and the posted single rider time was 10 minutes, but it ended up being about 45 minutes. On a different day, in the afternoon, when when the stand by line was 90 minutes, the FP line was about 25 minutes. Maybe the single rider line was shorter at that point (in the afternoon).

Not sure of the ages of the kids but they could also explore the Boneyard. Or, have them go to the very nearby ice cream bus and you'll probably be out before they are halfway done with their treat.

If you do Rock N Roller Coaster, I just sat outside and waited and jammed to the Aerosmith tunes playing. Also, there's an ice cream place nearby as well (sense a pattern?).

For Test Track, send them into Innoventions and meet up.

In all these cases, just have a couple of cell phones and it'll be easy.

I have two boys - DS7 and DS4 who I am sure will love exploring the boneyard!

DS4 wants to be a 'Rock Star' when he grows up and is mad about drums and guitars, plus my fiance is a drummer and guitarist, so I am sure they will make use of the RnR souvenier shop whilst I am on the ride!!

how fast the single rider lines move is very dependent on how the main line looks - if it's all couples and foursomes, the single riders will wait longer. if there are a lot of 3s and 5s (i feel badly for singles who wait in the main line), then the single riders fill in the empty spots and the single rider line moves much faster.
