I've read it similar but not sure so I thought I would ask fellow curry experts? Oh and is it hot, my husband loves hot?

Not really like Indian. From Disney's site "African-inspired dishes"

They do use spices and it was one of most enjoyable meals last year but I wouldn't compare to Indian food myself.

Food we had:

All entitled to our opinions, I don't like Cali Grill many think its the best place in Disney.
Our Cast Member friends told us we wouldn't enoy it, they didn't but we did.
Sanaa was the first to be added to this years list we all liked it so much. I had the most expensive item on the menu (Alaskan Salmon) paid for scallop starter & paid 18% tip, total $125.75 for 3 of us, towards the cheaper end of the meals we ate on DDP last August, they varied between $120-180.
Certainly not cheap but Disney do not have any cheap restaurants, the scallop starter & Alaskan Salmon were the best meal of the trip, looking forward to returning soon. :goodvibes

found it mild in taste but ok

Saw this pop up on the new posts and thought I'd chime in.

I've not had Indian in the UK, but have dined at Sanaa and was unimpressed. It is not that flavorful, and definitely not hot.

If you want true Indian (at a restaurant frequented by Indian families) then head to Memories of India on Turkey Lake Rd. just north of the Sand Lake Rd. Turkey Lake Rd. intersection (K Mart is in the same parking lot). It's true authentic and you'd better really like spicy if you say so! :woohoo:

Hope that helps a bit!

We love Saana and as we are DVC members we eat there several times during our stay. Don't go thinking of it as an Indian in the UK sense. We have quite a few friends who are Indian but from Mauritius so is a fusion of more African / India / US flavours. I fairly unapologetically love to go for lunch when they have the angus chuck burger on the menu, the meat on the naan bread with minted veg is fantastic in my opinion and at $11 or so not bad value.

I have tried most things on the menu and don't worry about asking for it to be spiced up a notch. When I had the fish which comes in the curry broth the Chef came out to discuss how 'hot' I would like it and we had a good discussion about curry in the UK. With the number of Brits heading over there the request wasn't new to him. I would recommend this dish if you like fish and spicy food.

Also lunch tends to be better for viewing the animals, we eat early and can almost always guarantee a window seat to the savannah which for us is one of the biggest draws.

Hope that helps

If you're worrying about heat then I think it depends on what you order ..

I had the chicken with red curry sauce and the beef short ribs. In my head I was thinking Thai red curry (yes I know that's not indian) after I ordered I heard the waitress at the next table explaining it was like a slightly spicy marinara sauce - and it was ... I was disappointed.

My partner had two of the veggie samplers ... spicy chickpeas, peas and potatoes and the spicy cauliflower, onions, tomatoes and mint ... one of these was so spicy she didn't eat it - but I don't remember which one (and she likes spicy food).

Puddings were good, bread very tasty, atmosphere nice ... I'd go back

Thanks for that...it sounds good.
I have heard mixed reports about Sanaa and thought I might give it ago anyway but its always good to know of a local authentic restaurant to add to the list of must eats.:thumbsup2

Visited about 8 months after it first opened, I could sum up the experience in one word, underwhelmed.

I believe they totally changed the menu after the first 12 months but we didn't visit until last August to know what it was like.
