Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn't
find what I was looking for. I don't really post on here? Sorry if this should have been posted somewhere else..

Anyways- my question: how does reserving a magic your way (room, tickets, & dining) work? Do you pay all of it upfront or pay a deposit? If a deposit, how much? When does it need to be paid off by? Can you make payments whenever you want?

We will be reserving soon so I'm just trying to prepare myself :) thanks in advance!

If you are booking a package that includes room, dining, and tickets, it would be a $200 deposit and the balance would be due 45 days prior to check in. You can make payments whenever you want either online or on the phone.

And, although you didn't ask this - you can use many different methods to pay:

1) A regular CC
2) A Disney Visa CC (which has a 6 month 0% financing option automatically for any Disney trips paid for with the card. I don't know how it works, because we pay our bill off in full every month, but it might be helpful for someone.)
3) Disney Rewards Dollars (DRDs) If you accumulate DRDs while using the Disney Visa CC, you can use them to pay for all/some of the total package.
4) Disney gift cards (that you can buy at Target, in the grocery store, etc.) Some people here like to use their Target CC because it gives them a discount/rewards that they can use towards buying Disney GCs.

We're going to WDW with friends in September, and I paid the deposit with my Disney Visa, then I'll pay a large portion of the balance with the DRDs, then pay the remainder with my CC again (accumulating some more DRDs for souveniers on the trip.) Our friends will pay me back with a check! :)

For free dining package, you are required to purchase minimum 2-day base tickets for everyone in the room (over age 3). For paid dining, the minimum ticket purchase is 1-day base tickets for all.

If it makes a difference, when you book your package, you don't need to purchase all the park tickets for your entire stay. Just get the minimum 1-day or 2-day tickets for everyone. When you arrive for your stay, upgrade your tickets then, to the number of days you need (up to a max. of 10 days per person). In this way, you aren't tying up cash or credit for months, unnecessarily.

Don't the number of days on your tickets limit the number of days you can make FP+ selection? Could hurt planning.

Yes, it would limit FP+ pre-park selection. I was posting in terms of the payment of quite a bit of $ months before the trip begins. Some people don't have it, so I was offering an option. I'm on the fence about the FP+ hoopla at 60 days out.

MouseSavers has a good explanation of how it works and if a package might be the best option for your family.

Is a Disney Vacation Package For You?

Many prefer to separately purchase "room only", tickets, and air fare, which gives an opportunity to look for the best price on each element.
